Survival mode craftable sleeping bag
Survival mode really needs a craftable sleeping bag you can carry with you and place down when not in combat. New Vegas had a similar item in the Lonesome Road DLC called the "Roughin' it! bedroll kit".

Edit: I've tested the sleeping bag mod and it currently does not work in survival mode, not sure if its the beta or that survival mode disables mods

Post 1.5 edit: I have been using a camping mod since the offical release now that mods work in survival mode.

I think a tent would be better, because it could have a higher weight. A higher weight would improve the balance of such an item.

Seems to be a mixed reaction to this I am for it but a lot are not. For me real life gets in the way of my gaming far too often and I like the idea of F5ing when it does, I think having to find a bed to save when i need to do stuff will be a right pain. may have to give survival mode a miss till its modded,

personally think it would take alot of the fun out of it though i'm sure there'll be a mod for it soon enough (if there isn't already one)
as it is now however there are actually plenty of low grade beds scattered all over the place if you want to save before taking on a group of raiders or what have ye

I think the bedroll / tent would be a good compromise, as long as has cost, ie weights a reasonable amount and you have to clear an area before you can use it.

Purists, Bear Grylls and other masochists can simply not use it :D

as someone who has infinate load times / crashing at least once every hour i feel this is a must, beacuse i dont want to loose so much progress to a issue that was out of my hands.

i can live with carry weight problems since i have strong back + lone wanderer plus i can always take a companion to carry tents/bags if i am realy in a pinch.

if its not made offical i can at least see it becoming a mod in the near future just as a precution to avoid loss due to teachical/software issues and not just beacuse i died in combat.

I this would work just fine under two conditions: It must have realistic weight, and they would need to implement a random encounter chance for sleeping outside of outposts or towns. If they did that it would balance the added advantage of being able to sleep/save anywhere.

Another (and possibly simpler) way of balancing this would be to allow the player to "make camp" with a bedroll, tent, wood, and a lighter. In this case the added requirements would be your balancing effect.

Yeah, a complete camping set should have a high weight, but it should enable the player to sleep and save everywhere.

or set up the sleeping bag in a 'safe' location like where you first meet Garvy

Well the Roughin' it! bedroll kit had a weight of 15 which was fine, but yeah giving a weight somewhere around 15-25 would be fair. As for excluding it to safezones the bedroll kit was resctricted to outside use only which would be good too.

I love the Portable Sleeping Bag 11111 mod and I'm not even on Survival mode.

I would straight up vote for reinstating quicksave in survival mode. The sleeping/save mechanic to me is far more often just flat out annoying then challenging. The much suggested tent/sleeping bad would be a compromise.
It's not going to happen, and there is no vote.

It already exists. Existed *before* Survival, existed before the *CK* was released.

There are actually *two* camping mods that add sleeping bags and tents (among other things) to the game.
