A newer version of Fallout than F4SE supports???
After looking forward to starting a new playthrough all day I attemp to start the game and get a message the I have a newer version of Fallout than my version of F4SE supports. Fallout 4 runtime 1.10.20 and F4SE verion 0.4.2

Looking at my Fallout4.EXE it would appear it auto updated at 5:15 tonight when I turned my computer on if I'm reading the properties correctly. I checked the F4SE page and 0.4.2 is the newest version. I played for hours yesterday!

Anyone else that uses script extender getting this?
Any Suggestions?
I really hate that steam won't let you turn off auto updating.

Are you signed up for Fallout 4 beta? Well then you got the Creation Club beta

Yeah the beta = we got screwed. I'm still waiting for information on whether reverting to the normal version will help this or completely break my modded game.

nope, Creation Club went live yesterday, and that came with a bump in F4Runtime http://store.steampowered.com/news/externalpost/steam_community_announcements/2094592080082716029

i thought "hey imma play some vanilla and start to mod once im comfy", but no, that damn update breaks F4SE :(

Updates break mods frequently. Getting pissed at a developer for developing their game because it breaks your mods is... less than intelligent.

As far as the auto-updates, I'm fairly sure you had to opt into beta to get CC stuff, because I haven't opted in and I don't have the update.

F4SE is coded to not run with a new version of fallout 4. You should expect this

If you set the game to only update when I launch the game, and only use F4SE_loader to run, it'll never update the game because you're not running by Steam. Learnt that about 3 updates ago.

Right now it's in my library awaiting an update but I can still keep the update at bay and run the game with F4SE.

Until you run it through Steam again if you wanted to change some settings or something.

How long does it take for the F4SE team to update it usually?

Really depends. Sometimes they're on it the same day with a release, longest I've seen was about a week.

Thanks for the reply, at least I have an estimate now. Guess I'll have to wait until it's updated!

i wasn't explicitly mad at anyone, i guess im just angry about my bad luck / timing getting into modding a day after an update. sorry if that came off as hostile but it really wasn't meant to. i didnt address bethesda or f4se so you read into my post quite a bit more than you should've. still no reason to start name calling and be childish about it tho. :)

i found a mirror of the F4SE source on github, but so far i haven't had any luck bulding it unmodified with VS2017 and the corresponding toolchains.

man i wish F4SE gang would be a bit more open with their development

Yeah I apologize if I jumped at you, I've been dealing with entitled rage-filled socialists all morning. Your timing on entering the modding world is unfortunate.

The thing is, though, the people who make F4SE aren't paid other than donations afaik, so expecting them to be on the level with Bethesda is gonna lead to disappointment. Beth breaks their game at their discretion, modders rush to try and update and fix their mods so they don't get inundated with angry people shouting at them for daring to take so long to work on a fix.

Is it possible to revert Fallout 4 to a previous version, just to wait until the F4SE team realeases its update? I don't really care about the new added features, I just want to finish my playthrough tbh
