As long as it's in a settlement you've made, 99.9% sure your items are safe aside from weapons/armor/ammo that the jerk settlers steal.

But Bethesda, so occasional bugs.

Also, if you want to keep stuff safe from settlers, just make it so they can't walk to a container. Meaning, make it so you have to jump, or use a ladder mod or a mod that adds another cell into the settlement. I recommend THIS[www.nexusmods.com]

The craftable containers you make for settlements are permanent and won't delete items. The only containers you can lose stuff in are random ones you find in the world, as the container contents will reset when the cell does.

To be fair, I've never had it happen. But, yeah, I've been hit with the automatron reset bug before, so make sure you save often.

Yea, that's why I put the 99.9% caveat in. I didn't want to say it was fine, and then have the dude go "well why did all my stuff disappear then?" lol

Want your $hit to be 100% SAFE?

Store everything at Home Plate.

(NO pesky settlers, NO cell reset, NO attacks)

Also no workshop, and no sense of style. That place is ugly af.

No workshop? There most certainly is. HP comes with a workshop and power of 100. The sense of style and imagination has to come from the user.

Sorry, limited workshop. Forgot because I never use it. I dunno, I just have always used the other settlements and workarounds for settlers stealing my stuff. 350 hours of play and aside from the very beginning when I didn't know better, have not had a problem with them taking anything.

And no, there are lots of things you can't scrap (like the floor and ceiling) that make it unattractive, at least to me. I'd rather have the views from Croup or Kingsport.

I made my HP into a crafting / storage area with a bathroom, bedroom, kitchen and living area with fireplace. I was gonna put the blueprint up on Nexus but I it uses so many mods it would probably scare people away lol.

My real player home is at Kingsport because I just love the lighthouse.

Kingsport ftw lol. I demo'd the building on the dock with console commands/scrap everything and built a gorgeous house there. So peaceful. It's my favorite spot in the game.

I did have a playthrough where I did something similar at HP, but I could just never really get into it. Plus, like the one I linked above, there's too many stellar mods that add cells for settlements.

Honestly, I avoid mods like Scrap Everything and those settlement overhaul mods.I never use the console to remove an un-removable item either. It's like a challenge to me to build and adapt my settlement to the existing environment. Yeah, I know, it's anal but it definitely makes for an interesting build lol.

As for HP, I blueprinted my current one and I'm definitely gonna use it on my next character since it really has everyting I need.

It just drives me crazy that it's been hundreds of years and NOBODY HAS BOTHERED TO CLEAN UP THE EFFING GARBAGE lol. Plus I have this whole backstory in my head of what my character's history was, and building is a part of it, so knocking down buildings fits pretty well. Besides, exteriors, while I work hard on them, aren't usually my main focus. I love interior design. OCDecorator, Creative Clutter, Homemaker, and a billion others make it so that I can fill my shelves with food, knick-knacks, etc. Love it.
If you store things in the workshop inventory (any crafting station in a settlement) it can be stolen off-screen in raids. Just something to be aware of.

The concept of nuclear fallout is radioactive detritus. It's likely many people fear random piles of garbage are a radiation risk. A tidy street is not worth dying over.

I hear ya and you gave me a good laugh over that "garbage". Maybe one day the people in the Commonwealth will get their a$$es together and clean the place up.

I like my interiors to look lived in as well so I tend to fill up all available space. It's definitely fun to do and also a great way to lvl up. Happy building my friend XD.

Tidy street is one thing, I get that. But a pile of crap next to your bed is just irresponsible. Better to expose yourself to it once to get rid of it than to leave it there to cuddle with every night.

I know people who live in messier conditions today.
