Inorder for nexus mods to work you need to add the following 3 lines to the Custom.ini. Under iLocation Y=0 add;
[Archive]
bInvalidateOlderFiles=1
sResourceDataDirsFinal=
Make sure you place the capital letters where they go and nexus mods will work.
[Archive]
bInvalidateOlderFiles=1
sResourceDataDirsFinal=STRINGS/

iLocation Y=0
i have not tried out the game after putting a mod in. I am at the very beggining. I found a link here on steam to download this file it was not in the order as above. I dont know if it matters the order the lines are in. Its not a text file i just dont know the file type
1. go to .......users/YourUserName/Documents/my games/Fallout4/ and open that folder.
2. Right click in any blank spot and choose New => Text Document
3. Name it Fallout4Custom.ini (say YES when it asks you if you want to change the file extension)
4. Make your edits to the file you just created in Step 3.
5. Done
EDIT: If you can't see the file extensions, select "View" and check the "File Name Extensions" box
Now, once you leave the vault and get as far as the Red Rocket station the game will have created the Fallout4Custom.ini.
What goes in it and in the correct order is;
[Display]
iLocation X=0
iLocation Y=0
[Archive]
bInvalidateOlderFiles=1
sResourceDataDirsFinal= <-------You can put the STRINGS part there if you wish.
There are a few mods that recommend it. I don't have STRINGS there and my mods work fine.
If by chance the game does not create the Fallout4Custom.ini you can create it yourself. To do that, open notepad and don't type anything. Click the file tab at the top then click save. Now name the file Fallout4Custom.ini and click save at the bottom. By default that will save it to Documents. Find it then drag and drop it into your Documents/My Games/Fallout 4 folder. Then add what I told you above. nexus mods will now work.
Ninja'd and your way is much faster. BUT, My comment is longer and took far more time and effort. I'm tired now. :)
Simplicity is bliss my friend. Ever hear of the K.I.S.S. principle?
LOL, I do Keep It Simple, yet I'm still Stupid sometimes.
Oh since i already got a custom.ini i may have to delete the one thats comming hope it dont cause a crash. Oh it probably wont since it wont have anything to read from the second one i dont will see. now you got me a little concerned.
The game won't create a second Custom.ini if you have already created it.
