Playable without graphical elements?

Is the game reasonably playable without any graphical elements, i.e. without the map and the alchemy journal? I once bought the game at IndieGameStand and have just installed Glulxe on my Android tablet, using a terminal emulator and Kevin Boone's KBOX. I've tried out the GBLORB file, and it seems to work. But do I need the graphical elements, especially the journal window, to complete the game? I am also curious whether there are other games from you having issues in that direction.

Yes, it's completely playable. The journal window just repeats information that you've found in the game; you can get all the same text with the RECALL command.

You may want to keep the map open in a browser tab, and maybe keep a notes file open. (I mean, to the extent that multi-tasking is convenient on Android.)
