Anyways, I guess I should just accept Alberto isn't going to come (at least officially anytime soon).
Otherwise sure, have the juvis and subs fill the niches of all the old dinosaurs. But that in itself is a waste of assets is it not? I'm sure models back then were expensive to make and the Isle has plenty of unused assets too.
Eventually I think it would be ideal to have fully fleshed out juvi / sub elements of every dinosaur where applicable, except for the really small dinosaurs where I don't see a point in the juvi stage.
They'll be coming in as AI at the very least, potentially post full-release playables.
But the verdict on Albertosaurus is not ours (the community) to make. Dondi has brought up Alberto repeatedly on stream. Now, is it just that it'll get attention to make it suitable AI? Perhaps. Or it might come in as a playable. But don't be a defeatist here: just because a HUGE swathe of the community disses Alberto in regards to what it can bring to the table, that is irrespective of what Dondi might actually do. Who knows, Dondi might have found a way to make Alberto and Subrex and Allo all able to coexist and not overlap too much.
The megapacks back then were mostly made of up nesters, not people who progressed on their own. For example, one of the only times I was a carno in progression was when I was once nested into a gigantic (I forget how many but probably well over 20) carno pack that almost entirely made up of other people who were also nested in.
Yes Dilos are fun, I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ love playing them myself, but a lone Dilo, Allo or Carno isn't anything special and is highly limited in what it can do. They require coordinated packs to be successful. So if you are a lone player w/o a network of dedicated Isle players to back you up, you'll want to pick individual strength over effectiveness as a group, hence the choice of Trex, Trike or Giga.
Furthermore a lot of people just like picking apexes because they like feeling they took the harder route and got something better out of it. It feels far more rewarding to grow a Giga than an Allo.
Growth timers being OVERALL faster and less of a slog = more of a reason to play other dinosaurs. Smaller dinosaurs would be more rewarding to play because they'd be quicker to grow and more time spent in the fun stage vs waddling around as cannon fodder for 2+ hours. Lower growth times also means there's more competition all around. Currently, if you hit adulthood (especially with an apex), not a lot of things (other than apexes or giant packs) will really want to fight you (in my experience) because they don't want to risk losing their own dinosaur. Faster growth and less of a punishment for dying = more engaging gameplay, more risk taking behavior and thus more interesting encounters, more dinosaurs making it to adulthood instead of feeling surrounded by small juvies or subs that can't or don't want to even SEE an adult, let alone try to fight or run from one.
Either bump growth times up or make juvies less of an artificially hard gameplay style with the sole intent to pad out playtime.
