Today we are announcing the sunsetting of the game. The servers will be closing on the 10th September 2021. Warhammer 40,000: Eternal Crusade will no longer be playable at this point.
We are proud of all of the work that went into Warhammer 40,000: Eternal Crusade, and for the amazing community that rallied behind the game. Thank you for everything, we appreciate all of your support through the years.
Thank you for this adventure,
The Warhammer 40,000: Eternal Crusade crew
Yeah, I figured like dude they had 5 years to get their money back. Even if this game came with those 2 year extended warranties you get with like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ vacuum or something, they STILL would be 3 years too late LOL.
For a 20€ Game, EC gave me a lot of joy.
Now to swap the perspective:
I've could been a founder, ranging between 150-400US$ of purchase. Excluding what was offered, as i dont know what was offered after that.
So lets say i put down... i dont know, captain was like 240 or 280.
Would i be satisfied with having paid 280 Euros for what Eternal Crusade was in the End, after all it was said to be?
And then the official Postings about stuff that never happened, like "Terminators Christmas 2016". That was an official Statement. Just like the Vehicle Map.
If i would have paid that high for a ride that wild, i would vomit on the cashier aswell.
Edit:
Now that i come to think of it, there was some referal stuff aswell, where you could send a link to people to adopt the founders program, and then, if they purchased through that link, you got points for stuff that WAS NEVER EVEN DISPLAYED. "Later." - "SoonTM."
On the official Forums, you can see people having a rank on their Avatars tagged.
Thats how many people they got to join.
Has it really been 5 years? Says I haven't played since 2017. I didn't even ever use the extra points or whatever they gave me after they went free to play (kinda sucked I paid money for a free game but rather have more players than no players).
People going off here are being pretty childish though. Im not really a fan of bad video game companies and bad company practices but I can't feel too upset with game devs when people throw a tantrum like this, but go and pre order every single year for the latest AAA scam game that is worse than the previous one, and they go and defend it on twitter. Lots of gamers are spoiled and dumb.
Anyways, might install this and play a bit again before it's gone for good. Sucks to the people who spent hundreds (the founder stuff was really misleading I admit). Maybe one day the dream 40k mmo will come true but, I doubt it. Sucks we never got Dark Millenium.
Yet these same people PRAISED the MOD, which unlocked all the DLC and store items for free, WHERE WAS ALL THE OUTRAGE THEN ? when did anybody get angry then?
NOBODY was mad when criminal gang unlocked everything that cost money, now its all the Devs fault and the game owes them money. Robinhood is a hero when he steals from the government, it's a different story when you find out it was tax money, because we all pay taxes.
For those who spent money on DLC the honest old fashioned way, during the supported years and feel ripped off, I'm sorry, but after 2020 the MOD unlocked it all for free anyways.
Without the mod, some people would have bought RTP for cosmetics, and some money would have been there to keep it running.
But as it is right now with this mod, the devs would have been forced to put manpower in fighting this mod, banning people etc. to get it under control. Another point is, that GW would have demanded it.
Truth is the population looks pretty dead and they aren't going to make enough money to justify keeping the servers up (at minimum breaking even on costs).
Grow up, get some real friends, and try to remember that every time you gleefully attack disgruntled customers you're only hurting yourselves in the future; you're not any different from them.
Im not damage controlling for them at all, i never even played this game, I was always interested but I never played, I make that VERY clear in my post. All Im saying is you arent entitled to a refund FIVE YEARS later, if it was so bad at launch why didnt you just try to get your refund then? It was OBVIOUSLY good enough for you to keep so if you spent more than $60 on this game for a founders pack and was totally okay enough with it to not ask for a refund until now when they're shutting it down after 5 whole years, then you never REALLY wanted or needed a refund, you're using that to ♥♥♥♥ on them because of the broken promises that were made, which you have a right to be mad about but dont claim you have a right to a refund after 5 years dude, even extended warranties (1-2 years) on physical products don't last that long lmfao, you decided you got your moneys worth when you didnt ask for a refund 5 years ago. Thats all Im saying. You made your choice, and thats fine but, relax with the karen level entitlement lmfao and yes kiddo, I know what that word means♥
Between this and things like Might No 9 I'm simply just never going to pay money for glorified tech demos ever again.
From this point on I'm only buying finished products. No more kickstarters, early access, or pre-orders. If nothing else Eternal Crusade was a learning experience.
i mean i did have fun with the game should i be mad about ♥♥♥♥ that other people are mad about? seems kinda of a waste of time
I understand that purchasing ea game its direction can change.
But when game left early access there was still false advertising infographic on steam store page. Tank battles, massive battles, heroes, player driven campaigns and persistent world.
It was there for months, then it got changed to another one that still described game as something it wasn`t. My husband should have both of those infograpic somewhere still.
Those who played game during ea, helping sending bug reports, posting sugestions believed they are helping game get to the point from that infographic.
In meantime were shown comming terminator models, and were told "it is all in a pipelines".
Then launch was announced and game was far from complete.
Noone got refund after launch. And I believe then it should be offered:
"Yes we planned to launch the game with all those features but there were some complications so we couldn`t deliver what was promissed. The game will still be developed after launch so if you still want to support us with getting it to there we are greatful. If you however decided you don`t believe in us anymore, here are your money."
The inforgraphic were still there AFTER full launch.
So many people stayed on the board listening to mr. Richardson bold declarations.
-10 YEARS POST LAUNCH PLAN - we still have cash for development.
-3-4 month big content updates. Just one with grav weapons was implemented.
-2nd content update including terminators
-Community most wanted features list established by voting on offcial forum... can`t remember what was top 3 but none of it was ever adressed by devs
-Workshop that could gave game some boost with minimum cash input needed is comming SOON
Just couple examples.
Just look at EC store page: WE ARE NOT GIVING UP. Hahahaha,
It was not just a simple problem with Pikkko servers failure.
People were simply lied to and you think asking refund here is over reacting...
