Thanks for the memories, good luck on your future projects!
Eternal Crusade suffered a lot of issues over the course of its development that made it clear to anybody paying attention it was on the out and out. From the pretty frequent staff changes, to the out-sourced "Planetside 40k" code and infrastructure being scrapped due to that company going under, to Nathan's sudden departure. The moment "We will not give up." was added to the store page, it was only a matter of time.

But still, I watched Eternal Crusade go from Loyalist vs Chaos at 4 frames per second on just a handful of maps, to Space Marine multiplayer except better and bigger in every way, with every faction's playerbase developing a subculture of their own, some of the most fun and hectic moments I've had in a shooter all to the backdrop of 40k.

It's a shame it turned out this way but it shouldn't come as a surprise to most.

Thanks to the handful of devs who held on and kept trying to make things work, and I hope the industry treats you all well in whatever projects you move on to.

4 hours later the "Thank you" post is already closed, that shows clearly that the devs can't handle their community.
I hope the industry treats them as they treat their community.
With closed doors.

People were being comically toxic and starting arguments and fights. They don't deserve to speak further if that's how they're going to behave. Devs don't have to put up with the abuse of a bunch of screaming children that feel entitled to whatever they want.

Ah, no wonder you're supportive of these developers. You're acting exactly like them, and the announcement showed how that worked out for them in the end.

I know this game was kind of like a spiritual successor to a "Space Marine" style 3rd person action, and I really enjoyed it when it first came out, I just wished it had gotten a little more love and attention. Sad to see it go. Hope it has a successor one day. Maybe more races, some game modes, like tyrannids, soloable, some weapons not as clunky, some actions not as slow. Just some positive criticism, but I did like the game and I thought the efforts you made to make it, the environment, the models, etc, was very well done. Sounds and designs very well done. I think the clunky combat at times and semi-difficult to navigate Loadout system could have just been streamlined into a Call Of Duty loadout system, which it was close to but still felt hard to achieve. All the best to the devs, but hope the successor game does better. Worthy effort though.

Sure you have to stand up to it. You are presenting something to the public and you should always expect that not everyone will like what you present.
If you are not man enough to handle the - as you call 'em - "screaming children" you should not start to release a product to the public in the first place.
They happily took the money of the screaming children, they had no issues to announce things they could not deliver, had no problems to ignore the slowly rising anger of their community not even trying to improve there.

You gonna defend ferarri if they deliver a toy car because their brake manufacturer got bankrupt so they couldn't build the 812 you ordered?

They ignored the community, crippled their hopes piece by piece, ripped of their intial founders, they deserve all the toxicity, arguments and fights that came up.

And even when closing down, they don't even say sorry. That is just the highest level of ignorance towards the community, so they deserve exactly this in their future, being left alone, unheard and ignored.

Yes, I am a normal, civilized human being that can look at a group of allegedly grown adults acting like spoiled children starting pointless fights, hurling abuse and insults at people, and hoping other human beings lose their jobs and livelihoods because they didn't get the computer game they wanted and go "wow, you people are acting like toddlers, no wonder this thread was locked." Thank you for noticing.

There were a lot of things that could have been done to make the game just a little bit better and maybe if they all added up it would have taken off, but ultimately I feel like the game was doomed when they started promising Planetside 40k right off the bat. If they had not been quite as ambitious and just focused on making a spiritual successor to Space Marine, things would have been different. They pulled in PS2 players and people who wanted something that huge as their initial audience, and if they had instead pulled in just people that wanted a 40k lobby shooter, the playerbase would have been much bigger and had more staying power. Maybe kept the idea of PS 40k internal and then if it was ready to be implemented, announce that there was going to be an MMO mode and add it in as an option. If you wanted to play the Planetside mode and have a much larger scale battle, you can do that, or if you just wanted to play a match or two, rename the existing mode to "skirmish mode" or something like that.

Was fun while it lasted though.

Capital G "Gamer" entitlement

Or you could just behave like a grown ass adult instead of acting like a stereotypical "gamer" and act like a middle schooler with behavior issues and then blame the people you're screaming at and insulting for rolling their eyes at you and hanging up the phone.

Gosh you are such a fanboy it is not even funny anymore.

So grown up to throw your insults around blaming others for doing exactly that "throwing insults around".
Maybe get yourself through the child stage first, before you try to demote others of being adults.

I'm pretty sure he's just trolling at this point. No one can actually be this full of themselves.

Maybe you should act like an adult instead of getting mad when people inform you that you're behaving like a child. Also lol at the use of "fanboy". Anybody angry forum warrior that has to resort to that word knows they're fully in the wrong and doesn't actually have a leg to stand on.

God luck with your future projects?
Come on bro...
They lied to us multiple times, now they are closing game without even giving it up to moders. Same happened with Deathgarden.
It is not just about management.
Their official forum quickly after release turned into fanboy nest couse most people who seen through their lies and voiced it plain and clearly had a banhammer over his head.
Then their line developers who called players "entitled whiners" and were simply total amateurs.
Brent on stream; "Damn... D bash never works".
Now they are saying thank you, enable thub down on steam and taking backlashs they close it for further comments.
And you wish them luck?
I suppose it is only couse lack of knowledge how development was proceeding.

Kethriss, I'm sorry these guys can't even fathom that posting here is making them fanboys themselves, making them everything that they post . great idea to say thank you to a game and the people who developed it, 2016-2021 not a bad run for a game that cost less than a million bucks and had just about 300 full time players.

Kethriss, Imho you made a very good fitting post here. I am all with you.
But it wont bring you any further to debatte with people like these here in this discussion. It is not worth you time.
