Save your cash for the next game?
No competent developer touches 40k IP for some reason, but then again, we will get Darktide from Fatshark, which I'm sure will be a hit.
They didn't pull a "bait and switch", the intention was always to be Planetside 40k. The issue was the funding that went in to the development of that part of the game's infrastructure was outsourced to a company that had much more experience working on things like that, but that company went bankrupt before any real progress could be made, and by that point in time, Publisher support was already being pulled.
Blaming the devs for this just shows how little you people know about how the game industry actually works.
It would be great to see a 40k mmo. Preferably one that is player driven and not a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ RPG style game similar to WOW.
If and when it DOES happen, i'll keep an eye on it.
It's quite obvious we're about to start getting a lot more Warhammer games very soon. Hopefully at least some of them will be worthwhile. With modern western mainstream being the way it is, it's probably the worst time for niche games to stop being niche.
