A thought
Just played some SM vs Ork games, 6v2. And then switched to chaos. That game was 8v2

No problem with low-number games to kick off - others often join after they begin. Fine. Good actually and better than waiting around.

But - why does it always have to be these contrived matches?

Why not make it like 40k actually is: it is not onyl race war. There is no reason why Eldar can't fight Eldar, or SM vs another SM gang, or Chaos vs Chaos, or even have multi-race fights against Tyranids.

Why limit it ?

And why not make some maps more "open" - less crowded full of obstacles and structures?

Why not make some maps relatively simple but huge? Like a real battlefield?

And what about "annihilation" matches instead of these game-like capturing points matches? War, where the object is not to capture but to destroy and kill? Like 40k actually is meant to be?

The game is good but those are ways it could definitely be better.

For a guy who just championed SPACE MARINE as the better game, you sure do ask alot of eternal crusade, and then put it down.

40k is actually a tabletop game Played by real people who talk to each other, and therefore they would know, who, what, where ,why, when and how, about the game and armies involved.

Eternal Crusade is an online game, its a Third person shooter from a first person perspective, so 30 individuals join a match and its 15 vs 15, and they all end up LSM, and more than half are wearing thier favorite chapter colors, with just a small recognition dot above thier heads, Is the Black Templar across from you friend or Foe ? what if your also a Black Templar but he has a RED dot above his head.

Annihilation matches are also called Deathmatches, this is actually covered by the ability to DUEL in garrison mode.

Unlike your beloved space marine we have to hear so much about on Eternal Crusade, This game was designed to have a Strategy other than bust them in the middle and trap them in the spawn point until they rage quit or run out of lives.

Sadly the sports like strategy of a Time clock, possesion clock, strategic point captures, yadda yadda yadda, have eluded the majority of players since the original badass players left the game.

So overall the strategy got tweaked once maybe twice in 4 years but the Players didn't and its actually a very simple concept, but it isn't to the majority of players....even after a couple years of playing. you can't teach a rock to read.

I have never said SM was a better game. Re-read my posts before saying stupid crap like that. I have only ever pointed out criticisms of both games as I experienced them.

As someone who has been into 40k since 1988, I kindly request you shut the patronising tone and keep out of discussions that you aren't qualified to partake in. Thank you.
And I am only offering ideas, not making further criticisms. Ways to make it better. Stop being so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ defensive all the time for christs sake, you insecure git.

For that matter, one thing both games totally fail at is the entire concept of squads and factions. It is almost never the case that you get to play as a eg. Ultramarine in a squad of Ultramarines with that chapter only. Almost always, one is a lone agent with a bunch of other totally random chapter buddies from totally random chapters, which was never how 40k envisaged it working. As SM was the first decent attempt at a game of this kind in 40k universe, I figured it was less important than just making something work, and it worked well enough for a first attempt, despite lacking this basic structural feature that is actually the entire premise of the 40k universe. I would have thought that the 2nd attempt (EC) would have addressed this by making chapter association default, but it is identical to SM in that respect. So that's another thing for the devs of future games of this kind to factor in, along with the other things I have mentioned.

Surprise, I also found Rogue trader in 1988.

Space Marine , was only The Ultra marine chapter until after it went on steam, and after Eternal crusade was known to be multi faction and multi chapters at launch.

Insecure maybe, I'm just tired of the same discussions after 4 years, where were you before covid 2020 ?

Where were you for all the " team killer " " Friendly fire " " git gud noob " Threads that ended up flame wars, just because friend foe recognition can be difficult, and throw in the lag.

Rambos, lone wolves, Space marine players that do not play as a team......again 4 years worth of those flame wars archived.

You will not attract outsiders at all into Eternal crusade by harping on the negatives, and wishing at a wishing well that does not exist, you attract more Bee's with sugar than with vinegar.
Negativity breeds negativity.

There is plenty of things that Eternal crusade does have going for it, things they did right or good enough, it doesn't all have to be just the inevitable, " Its the only large scale 40k pvp game available " but it is, so .......

You think its easy to be the cheerleader ? you try it, jump into these boards with as positive an attitude as you can muster, and start explaining how to be a better player, start a Tactics discussion, start a teamwork discussion, break down some battlefield maps and talk tactics, explain how the game works, how the whole thing is based on timers and objectives and how to be fluid and proactive, teamwork, weapon loadouts.....Start a positive thread, I dare you.

Talks about being positive while talking down to other people and being negative the whole time lol
