!. your playing a Space Marine/LSM A.K.A " The Herd of Cats " get used to frustration and immense rage.
1. So to get players playing together and working as a team, the team is broken down into squads, the squads are color coded, YOUR squad is blue to you while the rest of the team is yellow, your squadleader is a blue star.
2. Being near your squad, sticking together in combat gives bonuses, and each class has a banner bonus that gets shared among the team.
3. Your squadleader has even more bonuses and marks the ground, plants a banner if you will, using the Q button, and these all give the whole team bonuses.
4. Every squad starts off with a rhino up to the letter C, and sometimes D on certain maps, This is a mobile Spawn point you can pull up right next to the enemy, it has machine gun you can use and the back is a resupply, so its sorta a bunker if you need it.
So TEAMWORK, TEAMPLAY, co-ordinated Attacks and defense, communication, Bolter drill and a yadda yadda list, Thats what the BLUE color code is supposed to help and teach.
Your in the herd of cats now, So good luck and start thinking up good reasons for when the cops knock on the door and want to know what all the screaming is about.
How is one supposed to know this rather detailed (and fragile) list of expectations from just buying the game and having a go?
Have the option there for the nerds who organised themselves into heirarchies. That is fine. But people are playing in 10 different time zones. They ain't gonna study for it.
This game runs almost like a Football/Futbol/soccer game, if you don't apply a sports mentality its just random luck for wins.
1. know your enemy, watch how the other team plays, how they win how they lose....Scout them.
2. get used to the ins and outs of every map, just like playing on every pitch and every stadium
3. play as all 4 factions and try out all the classes and vehicles, again, scout it out.
4. get used to the time clock, and figure out how to use it as both an attacker and a defender.
5. in the middle of the screen is the time of possesion bar, TOP , its really important and is critical in some decisions.
6. Defense/Defence and attacking, you actually need to get used to the fact they both need doing at the same time, its when should you. Attackers need to cap a point quickly and then hold so they build up TOP bar, if you cap and let them have it right back, you put 5 new minutes on the clock for nothing, You must cap and hold doing both, its why 2, 10 man squads in rhinos are the best for attackers . Its flexible 20 men attack, cap and then 10 stay to defend and 10 go attack then defend another........so i write anyways.
7. You don't need to cap all 3 to win, but you need 2, and then the defense for the attacker is you time banked a cap, when they finally counter attack and take 1 back, you then attack the last point.
8. as a defender you do want to hold as much as you can for as long as you can, but you need to keep recapping to disrupt the TOP bar, the Suicide defense method is a team that sticks together and lets the attackers have all 3 caps right off the bat, and then zergs around the map never letting the scattered forces recap much and build any TOP bar.
Guys... Rhino colors are attached to the Chapter you’re playing as...
On a much less head add note:
Blue = Squad
Yellow = Ally
Red = Enemy
If it’s a Rhino, you’re able to spawn on it as long as it’s Blue on the map, Aka Your Squads.
Rereading through the argument/Throgg making a big deal out of something done for gameplay...
Coherent Squads are organized yourself with a team of friends to back you up.
Jumping into a Random Squad or expecting to get a good coherent squad when no one ever uses Voice, Text is only used to bash the team or call out points/vehicles...
...You’re setting yourself up for disappointment.
Like ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, you have no idea how much fun it is to hop into a Squad of mates in a VC and working together to do stupid. ♥♥♥♥ we proved even with the Mod’s mass Debuffs of Apoths that Apoths are still stupid with 4 Apoths and 1 Tactical.
Sure it’s Stupid, but doing stupid with friends is the best.
Don’t expect too much from the player base when Clans aren’t involved, as the most coherent teams you’ll find are Clan-Teams, mainly of the Same Clan.
Also: Welcome to EC.
Dump your salt everywhere.
Play hard and have fun.
Legit have fun. I do when I play this because win or lose my goal is to have fun and Atleast T-bag that one ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ i know on the enemy team. Or stalk one of my allies as a pocket medic.
you're not to blame for not knowing stuff. the game does a ♥♥♥♥ job at explaining anything.
with this in mind, you are actually one of only a handful of people to ever ask questions!
there's a bunch of us sitting on a pile of knowledge but with no means of implanting it in the brains of all the other players.
you might notice from time to time players use the chat to give suggestions/orders and a few even go into explaining why something is important at some given moment, but it only reaches the ones that
A) can read
B) the language it's written in
C) if they even have time to read chat while doing whatever they're doing.
so asking here is really the best way, and I enjoy your weekly post (as long as you don't suggest target lock for stormbolters lol). :)
that said, if you ever wanna do a live Q&A in the garrison or something, let me know (given timezones allow for it). used to offer that regularly in the past.
They should also have missile launchers (like original green plastic space marines had),. And why are there no flamers? The basic tool, non-existent in any 40k shooter. Why? Incinerating with fire is fun.
Hell, they don't even have target lock for normal bolters. Which means bolt pistols are infinitely more deadly, because they have target lock. So many things, so little sense.
are you - seriously - suggesting target-lock for all guns in EC?
as in, you want an _aimbot_ incorporated into a _shooter_?
don't see anything iffy with that?
the single most biggest reason for _not_ having an aimbot in a competitive shooter is, well... the difference in ability to accurately aim and track without help is the thing that decides who wins an engagement.
using aimbots used to get you booted from games and banned from competitions my dude.
the fact there is a "smart" pistol in EC is controversial enough, and you'll find pretty much all of the veteran players scoff at people using this crutch lol
besides all of this, the stormbolter dominates pretty much all close quarters fights below 16 meters. they are so far from being useless. just an observation for you ;)
and i invite you to test out unmodded bolter vs smart pistol in a controlled setting, you'll quickly change your mind.
the niche where smart pistols have an actual use is for finishing kills, mainly as JPA when you don't want to pursue and endanger yourself.
in terms of actual DPS, a normal bolt pistol with decent aim outclasses the "smart" version as well.
1. you are making up random wishes, obviously putting forward that having played or not doesn't matter to you
2. you are playing a game, not participating in warfare
3. you insist on putting an aimbot into a shooter game, your main point being "in a futuristic scenario everyone should have target lock"
a'ight i think i fully understand now what type of suggestions will come from you, and how little you'll consider actual gameplay implications.
"it's unrealistic and illogical that my space marine can't deploy vortex grenades that just suck up a full room of orks in an instant"
And I am not insisting on anything, I am saying that it is already there, with the pistols, and in a realistic -ish scenario, having a target lock (not an aimbot) would apply to everything, not just the smallest gun. Artificially pretending it can't work on other guns is not realistic or convincing.
i mean i dunno what game you are playing, but i'm talking about a pretty arcadey arena/lobby shooter called eternal crusade.
saying EC is a warfare simulation is like saying fortnite is a tactical submarine milsim.
call it whatever you will, it still remains a war _game_. you are _playing_ it. getting killed and respawn. not bleeding to death on a battlefield somewhere in a desert.
games have established rules that are easily enforced by an impartial judge - the game's code.
one such commonly accepted rule for the shooter genre is nobody gets a gun that allows them to bypass the aiming mechanic, _the_ defining part of this genre.
so, your setting may have imaginary futuristic guns with DNA activation, target lock and fire psychically charged foe seeking miniature warheads that don't even require you to be near your mouse&keyboard to rack up kills - you're not gonna be able to make it into a "shooter" type game, at least not a competitive multiplayer one.
games are all about "artificially pretending" stuff, even if you're just playing with legos on your living room floor.
and tbh it's already deplorable enough to have a aimbot pistol in the base game -.-
if you'd like a game to be more mechwarrior, EC is a pretty bad base to start from lol
missle launchers and Flamers = Graphics and coding too much for them, beyond this game programmers, they might have gotten to flamers eventually, but smart missiles were too much.
only the ork rocket launchers function, and they are not the greatest, you have to practice on them to get good.
Eternal Lag, hitreg, Poor performance from most computers, These are some of our most favorite things, and totally lend to poor shooting and melee results, its hard to read the insults from guys not suffering it, but just start playing and try to have fun.
