For example my colors are Thousand Sons with red shoulderpads. I've got a friend who plays for Blood Angels with some black elements (kinda like loyal Corsairs), and you know - they look cool!
If devs will aprove some colours for armor painting to represent some specific chapters then why not just to implement those chapters.
Anyway even if they will not allow it I don`t like the way battlefield looks already. Eldar looks like they should using their aspect colours. Chaos is quite ok basing on dark colours. But damn space marines as a fighting force are just bad looking. Red, green, yellow and blue. Add to this Space wolves and it will be even worse. I know everyone want to play his favourite chapter but damn... squad combined with different chapter warriors just sucks.
I am playing tabletop for 21 years. Have 8 different armies. Some with my own colour sheme. I have green camo Tau army... But it looks like an army... not rag-tag group of different tau septs.
Have also Imperial guard. All based on catachans. Courple years ago some friend bough me gusrdsmen for birthday present. He didn`t knew anything about wh40k. 10 metal Valhallans. Imagine how my army looked with them. Unpacked, painted staying on the shelves.
Supposed to be yes. Armor customization will come first. I can't remember when painting is slated to be allowed.
Ah, I see your point now. Maybe there should be some scenario maps where you can't chose your look, or.. all the squad look like the leader....
Anyway I'd like to have custmisation:)
Glad to know:)

It is not bad idea but still I dont think how it could work. In my clan I have about ten dedicated space marine players. It is not hard to guess that all chapters are represented in our warparty. Even if we could get agreement which chapter we are gonna play we need 4 or five character slots for single SM faction. Couse probably it would look like this: SO ok, now we are playing as Blood angels but next match is with Ultramarines" - "Hey why Dark angels aren`t first?" And we are using team speak. Playing with your friends that aren`t using mic would be much more complicated. Also in long term they want to make it open world.
My favourite chapter are Blood angels but if devs would say their want to delete chapters choices and only allow to play as Ultramarines couse they want it to look reasonable I wouldn`t mind that.
Anyway games are being made to be attractive for as many clients as it is possible and everyone want to see his favourite chapter. So it is more likely they will add this painter. Still don`t like this. Looks just dumb.
"or.. all the squad look like the leader..."
ugh...
The explanation long ago is Arkhona is special. They are allowed to bend the rules because its not a normal Planet. All chapters fighting together under one banner for a critical planet essentially, normal Command lines between chapters suspended for the war effort.
I am not neccesarily disagreeing with you about the clashing colors, it does look fairly chaotic. On the other hand the "all chapters working in harmony" aspect is pretty damn cool at the same time.
I really don't care either way, but I drift towards players having full choice. Some players will play the same chapter as their leader/guild because they like the Roleplay. Some want to completely replicate their Mark III Power Armor and pre-heresy color scheme. Let them have what they want, its all for fun anyways.

Didn`t know this, thanks for info. Still it doesn`t explain why squads have different chapter members. Anyway this is not important now...
I think if we did this you can't make your marine have diffrent colors, just shoulder pad and solid standard color.
Any color customization will probably be restricted to company colors within chapters.
Not really much of a point in that case
