1280x1024 anyone?
1280x1024 is my native display resolution. Since I can not set this resolution in options and the game does not properly scale image all menus do not fit my screen and the game is kinda unplayable.

The year 2000 wants its monitor back..
I mean I dont even think thats widse screen.. if your monitor is like that what are the rest of your system specs like ?

IF your system actually meets the min specs for the game then do yourself a favour and go buy a new monitor.. i mean you can get a decent widescreen 22" or maybe even 24" for around the £100 mark of possibly less.

Thank you for your advice, but I've never asked for it. I prefer multiple 4:3 monitors for work and I'm not going to buy another monitor specially for games (I mean specially for this one, cause all other games have no problems with resolution support).
Caldrin 26 września 2016 o 2:07
4:3 is old.. not many games will support it in the future s oexpect to be able to paly less and less games at they are all moving to support the higher resolutions..

There might be a way to force it to start up in 4:3 instead of 16:9 but I have not found anything on google.

I mean sure if you enjoy playing games all squashed up maybe someone will know a switch to start it up in 4:3..

So the rest of your system is up to spec right ? This is a very demanting and not very optimized game..

But each to their own I really could not play games at that knid of resolution anymore haha.. anyway good luck and hopefully someone will be able to help you ;)

Me too have 1280x1024. Is there any solution?

(I have i7 system with corresponding characteristics)

why would you possibly prefer 4:3 to work on, it is so limiting, has no possible benefits of widescreen / ultra wide but many many downsides.
beyond that is it a old crt or a very old flatscreen ? the refresh and scuh if its a flat screen has to be appalling.
i dont mean to be a ♥♥♥♥, but this is really one of those times where an upgrade is due, and its a very cheap upgrade to make, plus the games will look WAY better on a modern screenw ith a better res, and productivity will go up with a bigger screen with more space, especially if you go ultra wide.

Have you checked your Graphic Software yet, if you can force aspect ratio settings onto seleted programs?

Nvidia Control Panel
or
ATI Catalyst Control Center (not sure if its called that anymore.)

Ignore the ***holes insulting you and telling you to upgrade, I run the game at 1280x1024 and have a monitor resolution of 1600x1200.

To get the game to run in 4:3 resolution, go to c:/Users/(yourprofilename)/appdata/local/eternalcrusade/saved/config/windowsclient/gameusersettings and look for "UseDesktopResolutionForFullscreen", there should be an = sign with the word "false" next to it most likely, change "false" to "true", set the game resolution to whatever you like. Make the game start in windowed mode, and when the game boots up, just hit alt+enter on the keyboard, the game will go fullscreen and be in 4:3 mode.

If you cant find the "appdata" folder, youll have to look online for how to make hidden folders not be hidden anymore. I did it so long ago i forgot how i did it.

i wasnt trying to be an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, but gaming and hell working in 4:3 these days is counter productive, and frankly ugly at those low resolutions, along with if it is an old flatscreen its performance will be awful compared to anything modern, and a cheap modern widescreen will massively outperform an old one when it comes to refresh and res and can be picked up for not much more than a price of a game these days.

If anyone wants to have some d*ck-waving contest over CRT vs Flatscreen, you're welcome to come do it on my profile. As for now, ive answered this mans question and have the politeness to not make him have to watch a debate explode.

there is no contest these days.

Thank you for the help.
FINALLY someone who's willing to help, instead of forcing their opinion upon people "that 4:3 is outdated & you need to upgrade" (such a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ in my opinion).

By the way, for anyone wondering; My system is up to date, also having a huge ass flatscreen though sometimes (depending on the task/game) I prefer 4:3 1280*1024.

Thus for example being NOT true at all, 4:3 is NOT counterproductive & (depending on the task/game) WAY better. Apart from that, regarding the resolution; 1280*1024 can look way sharper/better/clearer than a huge ass widescreen with 1920*1080 for example. Same goes for the refresh rate, 60-120 being more than sufficient. Native resolution being another thing I could talk about, but oh well - this is getting out of topic & I don't feel like waisting my time trying to clear up some things which should be well known (especially for someone talking that big & considering himself a gamer).

Out of curiosity, I gave the method posted by Hanz a try and while it does work it elements of the UI to go off screen. That's unfortunate.

Two day necro?
