The most recent calls came in 2019 from the Official Forums with 1 of the Last Devs, working on a new Map for Tyranids. That never made it. Then ~1year ago, someone tried to start a Campaign, and triggered an old Bug from last Campaign of ~November 2018, starting Matches at 1vs1. During those 10 Days, we had a hell of acitivity, across all Factions.
What else - Current Developement Team is "JESUS - TAKE THE WHEEL!"
From what else was to gather over the past years: The "official" Discords were deleted. No way left to make contact. Lacking Server Mainentance (LSM he. hehe.). EAC issues.
So they then remade a smaller scale version to the game with Unreal 3 engine, with the idea that we'll focus on the smaller scale and maybe we can go MMO scale later on but I don't think it was ever realistically going to happen. They then ported it to UE4 engine and perhaps hoped that would bring in some good performance and netcode gains but it didn't really. There were a few optimizations done over the UE4 engine which accumulated in what we have now, but it never really came to much. The game is still kind of janky and choppy and there you have it. Eternal Crusade.
Despite it's flaws though I find it can be a fun game. I had some good times in this back in 2017/2018. And i'd play it more if there were more NA matches going on with all the factions represented. And i could just drop in and play rather than have to sign up to pre-arranged matches.
