Running Game in a Sandbox?
Is it possible to run the game in a "sandbox" with Windows 10?

No matter what intentions this mob has or had , they have effectively turned Eternal crusade into Malware, and it sounds like they did the same to Space Marine.

Now before you start your Charade of explanations, I had a direct conversation on these boards with the Ringleader, he deleted his answers and the posts were banned, but in a nutshell summary, he did admit bad things could happen from his intervention into the game, if anybody else were to do us all a favor and make things better. He also admitted that I had the thing downloaded into my game without going to the illegal site to download it myself, so without choice, either by just logging in or if it was during a store purchase of the Hawk lords skin during april , I got the little surprise I never asked for.

So yeah, i get why he's asking for a Sandbox, plus the fact he's looking for a pre mod game enviroment to avoid super hero caliber players, and just have a normal vanilla game.

whatever you're talking about, the answer is no

What I'm talking about is that this game HASN'T BEEN PATCHED for over a year and has some serious security issues which are also NOT FIXED! That's why I'm asking if is possible to run the game in a "sandbox" environment where the game is kinda isolated from the rest of the system!

I dont think you know what that word means...

have you not been paying attention? publisher walked away and cut their losses with EC. for the dimwitted, that means no development, no support.

What has this to do me asking for running the game in a "sandbox" environment? You just repeated the reason why I want to run this game in a sandbox.

I know exactly what this word means, but it seems you two dimwitted Space Marines have no clue what a sandbox envrionment is :steammocking:

Let me enlighten you:
a sandbox is a security mechanism for separating running programs, usually in an effort to mitigate system failures and/or software vulnerabilities from spreading. It is often used to execute untested or untrusted programs or code, without risking harm to the host machine or operating system.

Sandboxing is frequently used to test unverified programs that may contain a virus or other malicious code, without allowing the software to harm the host device.

as long as the game can talk to the server then yes, i suppose you could run it in a sandbox environment. doesn't differ from any other programs you would want to isolate. i don't know what particular security concerns you may be aware of or what exactly your setup is, but running in sandbox alone won't prevent you from getting i.e. a modification to your routing table or dns, etc. but that depends on the type of attack i suppose. but principally yes, as long as you have a tunnel to the master (game server) as well as all the necessary dependencies in your sandbox environment then your client should run np imo.

The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Wait wait wait. It was free to play, I kinda enjoy Warhammer and shooting etc so started installing, now reading this.

Is the game hacked? Like: malware once .exe is started, or what am i missing?

explain so us rubes what malicious coding is included with mod? like, is my personal information somehow accessed and being used? not sure how you have the gall to call it malware without anything malicious.
the_green_one 20 Nov, 2020 @ 12:55am
explain how your personal data is not accessed pls before white-knighting it?

you still realize that you are trusting 3 trolls that have proven time and time again that neither the game's nor its player's "well-being" is their focus.

to the contrary, they had malicious intents in the past, their cynical and dismissive attitude AND the shenanigans they pulled before should make you highly sceptical.

how are you so naïve to blindly trust what they do lol

give me one other scenario where someone goes "oh yeah and then some russian guys coded something that no one bothers to understand but everybody is happy to use without questioning it" and everybody goes "yeah that's the most sensible thing to do"

you clown lmfao

@cleric
i have no idea what discussion you are referring to but if you ever had any interaction with what you call "ringleader" you most certainly simply got trolled. there's not a single logical reason why any of them should interact with you directly, especially on these boards when they have their own discord echo chamber (besides someone making fun of you).

furthermore, the weird things you experienced are neither comprehensible nor plausible. the modders still don't have server access and have virtually zero way of interfering with your machine. EC clients don't call any other server besides the official ones and do not allow third parties to somehow interfere in that connection and "make you download the mod without consent".

i'm not saying you're lying, but what you experienced and your explanation of it do not connect or make sense, no matter if some person ostensibly "admitted" it to you.

I would prefer banning players like you.
We all have our strange wishes, don't we?

Which would have most likely a similar result. Looking at the current number of players. :)
