Was having to buy premium always a thing?
I bought this game when it first came to steam for 25 bucks so I never really dealt with the free version. I recently got my buddy to install the game and it said he had to buy premium in order to play online matches, but PvE was open for him.
Has anyone else encountered this? I thought that was some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that he still had to pay 20 bucks to enjoy the game.
Then he buys the 21000 RTC to buy the premium edition, doesnt even get to the part where he buys premium, and it says hes able to play online matches now. So he just bought 21,000 RTC for no reason it seems like. He wasn't upset but I thought that was some shady ♥♥♥♥. I never seen or heard of that before.

uuuummm, thats all newish, used to be free meant no jumpers and some bling, but you could play both PvP and PvE, and you never saw that before.....like maybe since the darkside took over.
That would make sense. I never heard or encountered it. But i saw it with my own eyes that he was told that he needed to buy premium to play online matches. It said it where it would usually show the amount of players on and queued. Super weird, he bought some weapons with the RTC points, but it was just a weird thing ive never seen before. Wondered if a secret patch went through somehow or something lol.

But still yeah, he paid 20 bucks to play a free to play game basically. What the hell.

Ah!
It’s basically a trap.

You can play without Premium, but you’re relying on the Battle Now System to find you a match, instead of queuing up for one specific fight against a race. You’re in the ‘Any Fight’ queue essentially.
Eternal Crusade was in a Humble Bundle around February 2017 - Contained a Key to the Squadron Edition which held 25k RTC - probably for well below 10, or even 5 today. They are in the grey market. Just got to find them.

Oooo that would make more sense. He was able to hit the battle now button. Ok, that makes me a little less upset lol. Either way, he got in and hes loving the game now lol.
this is why the game died.
not dying, it died.
period.

and the only thing to save would be some good old fashion HONESTY.

y'know... market the game as $20.
dont call it "free to play"

-or-

make teh game FREE to play if you're going to market it as "free to play"

simple concept in my opinion.
correct me if im wrong tho.

not even a matter of "boycotting" at this point.
it's the principle.
lying devs simply dont deserve money.
period.
I thought f2p players couldnt play jump classes and their progression was slowed down, other than that the game was the same.
and you are right on the money there.
Free Player also cant go to the Map and join a pairing directly. they got to rely on Battle Now.
