any benefit holding weapon with two hands?
I am very dependant on shield, so I am just wondering if holding weapon with two hand gives any benefit that can offset the ability to block damage.

More damage, different moves, access to weapon arts.

You can still block, it's just only like half as effective.

It's best to get used to 2handing anyways, as rolling should be your primary source of damage mitigation, not blocking.

You do more damage and it gives you access to your weapon arts, though you can also use those with a shield that allows weapon arts instead of parrying. Typically more experienced players will rely on dodge rolls to evade damage and two-hand their weapon to do more damage.

I don't know specifics but I think you deal 50% more dmg 2handing a weapon. 2handing a weapon also cuts its STR requirement in half. So if you have 15 STR and a weapon requires 30 STR to wield, if you 2hand the weapon you will be able to use it properly.

You know about weapon arts right?

High Stability shields (ie tower shields) are excellent. The higher the stability the less stamina it drains when you block.

Shield of Want is a pretty good shield. 20% more souls, 100% damage reduction, 64 stability

Some people like shields and they are extremely broken in PvP. Try staggering a bloke behind Havel's Shield. You bounce right off.

Blocking is not bad, more realistic then constantly rolling around . i use combination of both, depend on situation:)

It seems closer to a 10-15% damage boost, and it gives you +50% STR for the purposes of wielding weapons. You'd actually need 20 STR to two-hand a 30 STR weapon.

Two-handed attacks also tend to use more stamina, so the damage boost might not be worth it depending on the situation.

you need to use a shield that says "weapon skill" instead of parry next to it. you can then do attacks that would require you to 2h the weapon just by hitting left trigger while shield is up.. Works great when you have a weapon that does "weapon stance" as the skill

you have a shield you hold LB to block but then you quickly hit LT to go into 2h weapon stance and hit RB or RT to do a shield opener or special strong attack.. It's so great for pvp. you can block still and quickly hit LT and RT / RB to do an attack and stun them almost instantly. works great with longswords.

Actually works good with any weapons. it depends on if you prefer to parry or not really.

you can still block by hitting LB when 2H most weapons.. just check the dmg reduction % when blocking with weapon.. Some large swords block about 70% or so which is actually not bad.. worst case scenario you block with the 2h weapon and take minor dmg.

But you also need more stamina I think if you block with 2h :I

Not much fun getting rollcaught. Shields are a way to go as long as you can use it to poise through all the katana fаggotry

Two handed heavy weapons are always better.

Your strength gets doubled so you get double strength scaling.
