I have a question
Why does this game isn't avaliable in Russia? It's avaliable on that Nexon thing, but not on steam? What's the deal with this?

Unknown. Perhaps because Nexon is more brazen?

Motoko is offically a lesbian in the manga, so Steam might have elected to avoid pissing off the Russian Government.

We can still access to Fallout 4, Mass Effect and Dragon Age, games in here don't have that much offense in that direction, as well as movies. And besides, Motoko is bi, she even had a boyfriend (s) in Manga if I'm not mistaken.
Question is still remained unanswered

have you tried using a vpn service ,
i use https://torguard.net/aff.php?aff=811 ,
it has NO Speed blocking so you get the real speed of your internet connect ,
i use it to get past geoblocks all the time to use / japan etc and have used it for about 4years now , well worth the money , they do a few diff services depending on what you need and no logs are stored , the service has 120+ plus out points around the world so you shouldn't have any problems , but you may need to use the nexon lunch and not the steam on to play but i do know steam will work thru it

.....I completely forgot her relationship with that section 1 guy. Anyhow, you probably know best about Russian Politics, that was just a random guess.

Well for all i remember in the manga and the movies it's not even clear if Motoko is originally a he or a she.
That came with SAC so depending on how you look at it it's canon or not.
Trin Jul 22, 2017 @ 9:56am
Motoko is a she if you go read the manga and also the sac ep where she vists the old shop and see's her old body from when she was a kid, and you get the old ladt talking about her and the other kid ( who should have been Hideo Kuze ) when they were both in the hosptal making paper cranes if you go my canon , before he has his whole body replaced as well
and if it counts she's in fact BI as she's been seen with both male and females in the manga and anime

Mmh i don't remember any part in the manga confirming she's a woman from the beginning, and i recall both the manga and Oshii's movies deliberatly, but subtely leaving a question mark on that point, what with all the actual literal Ghost in the shell question (how can i confirm i am who i am other than because my "ghost" tells me so and because i believe in it)

SAC is very different, more like a reboot, Motoko's kid scene never happened in Shirow's and Oshii's versions

also if your unsure check the wiki that she is a she https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motoko_Kusanagi

" In the original manga, Kusanagi's portrayal differs from that of the film-versions; she has a much more slapstick, vivacious, and sexy personality. Since each of these have independent storylines, the physical and mental characteristics of Motoko Kusanagi has been modified in different ways to reflect the focus of the story; these changes are reflected in the different ways that artists draw her."

and to by bi comment "In Ghost in the Shell, Kusanagi participates in a lesbian sex splash panel, involving Kurutan and Ran, and has a boyfriend. The unnamed boyfriend works for Section One, and they have been dating for seven months; to which Batou considers this "a new record.""

That doesn't exclude the fact that it's implied she might not have always been a she.
The point is it's voluntarily ambiguous, yet never explained clearly, and you don't get to have an answer because he or she is not really important, "who or what" is important.

Shirow even made it clear she uses a pretty standard generic baseline body appearence, something that Oshii played with in the movie when she sees someone else using her exact same body through a building window.

She says she's on her period early in the manga though so maybe that's just me extrapolating too far.
I find it's pretty clear Shirow wanted people to ask themselves the question though.

i think he wanted people to think what is a ghost / soul , as the japanese , think things like stones , rocks even as in this point to the robots have ghost's or souls is more the point
also if you look at all of his work's basicly everyone of the leads is female ie appleseed / Black Magic / Dominion and all of them comeout before ghost in the shell and after ghost was Orion once again a female lead , this work tened to point towards she is a she

That's a fair point Motoko shares many similar traits with Dunan even. And Briareos is kind of a prototype Batou.

I still think there's an ambivalence but it's not really important.

Also, why isn't there a good Appleseed (Shirow's not the crappy cell shading anime) shooter around ? It's a crime.

To be fair i dunno what happened in Shirow's head his latest works were pretty underwhelming.
Switching to horrible 3D and pretty nasty super oil mediocre color works, etc (not nasty because adult stuff, i have no problem with that).
Manmachine Interface was pretty good if you looked past that but it felt very disconnected, no likeable characters, Motoko 2.0 had no personality, it's kinda sad.

We have Oshii to thank for the absolutely amazing two movies, and SAC while less mature was a pretty decent reboot.
Haven't seen the new movie yet, i like Scarlett Johanson and she picks very interesting peculiar roles (absolutely loved Under the Skin), but i have 0 confidence in the writers.
