The arena score system feels way more brutal than endgame contents of other games.

I'm curious why they designed the score system this way. The x25 modifier of 'damage taken' is rather ridiculous. Is it just me?

No, it's not just you. It feels like a few different people wrote the point requirements. You must have arena gear plus using "eternal sniping echos of mjolnir" to get anywhere close to it.

If you're going for score you're not supposed to take any damage in the first place, so I don't see the problem. If you're getting slapped you already screwed up the attempt.

I felt the point requirements were all over the map.

I had a few of the Cups where I got Plats on most of the bosses without really trying and even with taking a bunch of hits. I had other individual fights that were impossible to even get gold unless I was completely perfect AND fast and I couldn't get them after 30 tries.

Luckily I got enough to buy up all the items (non DLC) so that worked for me.
