Future plans, or CrossCode 2?

So CrossCode is one of my very favorite games of all time.

Are there plans to continue development past 1.2, or are sights set on a sequel?


I'm ready, willing, and eager to throw money at anything this dev-team puts out, be that paid DLC, or a sequel, or a totally new game.

Any chance we could get some insight into the future?

Apparently there are some quest lines left to finish up and also some additions to the arena still (custom and pvp cups I think) and most importantly there will be the post-game chapter, which afaik will be a paid DLC addition.
As for a new game, the seeds for it are sown and it will not be CrossCode 2, but also not a radically different game.

I would love to see a sequel. There's plenty of room for it in the plot.

A sequel or another game set in the same world, where you could either select a different class, or played as a different character whose class was different. Maybe even a "series" that included this game (before something larger) where you played as 4 different people with the remaining 4 classes.

Also, an actual MMORPG set in this world would be pretty lovely, not gonna lie.

I actually don't want an actual MMO. Those games are way too grindy and drawn out. I actually really like that CrossCode is a pretend MMO so we can skip all the worst parts of the MMO genre.

An actual MMO would be a pipe dream. It took them 5 years to make this game.

I do hope they'll make the same kind of game as this though. It's hella fun. Make some dungeons shorter though.

oh? this is the first i've heard of them working on a new game? do you have any more info on that, cause like op i'm pretty much willing to drop money on anything these devs put out.

Their next project is probably going to feel a lot like a spiritual successor to CrossCode, from the little we've seen. There's scarce little information yet as they're still in the tool building phase, but the main thing Lachsen occasionally shows off on streams is a sort of 2.5D tile renderer, with a mapping tool that allows him to easily modify the underlying terrain shape.The idea of strict height levels and cliff faces is very much like CrossCode, but the perspective built into the camera should hopefully address the common complaint about being unable to tell the heights of platforms.

oh its nice that they are gonna address the perspective issue.
out of me and my 4 friends who i recommended cross code too, i'm the only one who wasn't bothered by the perspective at all. like i played through the whole game not once trying to jump somewhere i couldn't, and didn't realize it was an issue until all my friends started complaining to me about it lol

don't know how many people have the issue, but i appear to be in the minority. might be able to convince my friends to jump on the next game even if they had a problem with cross code if its really fixed.
