When you die..
When I die I see that I start from the beginning of the scene. But my question is do I also lose money or anything which was gained? (xp, items, etc) - Thanks

If you die in a battle (say you went through 5-6 screens and have an S rank and die) you lose everything that happened during the battle (you spawn back where your insane rampage started).
If you die by jumping off cliffs or into water while not in battle, you lose nothing.

If you are worried about dying, you can always run from the fight and heal up :D

This is a lie. The game autosaves every time you enter a new screen, and death reloads your autosave, regardless of how it happens. If you die during a combat streak, you will start where you entered the room you died in, with all items and experience you had before. You can even die and then immediately level on respawn if you had one pending.

On a side note, party members sometimes get stuck in a water death spawn loop and end up dying to water, then give a funny piece of dialogue related to their water death.

What just happened?

When you die, the game goes back to your last autosave, which happens whenever you change maps (and also sometimes for plot reasons). So you lose any progress from the current room, but you keep whatever you got in other rooms. You might miss a level up animation if it was delayed because you didn't leave combat, but you'll still get the level if you had it before changing maps.

Falling in the water and respawning doesn't necessarily kill you, it just damages you for 10% hp. Unless your health goes to zero, you won't lose any progress.

Actually the missing level up sequence should be fixed with the recent 0.9.5 release.

But yeah, whenever you die yo get reset to the last checkpoint which equals your most recent autosave most of the time. It happens whenever you change a map or after certain cutscenes. Occasionally before scripted encounters.

Also: When you save on a map this is now also used as your most recent checkpoint. However, note that you'll be teleported back to the entrance of the map, but keep the items/state from the time of saving.
Sorry to necro. Is there anyway to be more clear abotu what happens? Do I keep everything except the screen I died on or do I lose everything from the first mob I punched 6 screens ago?
