D-Pad for Movement? sucks to use analog sticks for Railing etc.
i love the dpad to use more for precision etc. can i somehow swap or parallel use both controlls? especially for running on rails etc. it makes me really angry that the character jumps off because the analog control is so sensitive thx

Personally I don't have a lot of issues with this. It's one of those things that you can improve with practice. Sometimes it helps to only half tilt the stick instead of going full-throttle. But, if you really want, there is software out there for remapping things.... Though I don't know of any specifically off the top of my head.

What I -do- know, is you can get a Logitech F310 for like $15 from Best Buy or Amazon. It's important to understand however, if you go that route, that the sticks are less precise than official controllers from Nintendo, Sony, or Microsoft. On the plus side, this means they will 'soft lock' into every 45 degree angle. On the down side, for those moments when you actually need higher precision while throwing, you'll feel it.

The most important aspect of the F310 is that it actually has a face button, directly below 'Select,' which swaps the function of the L-stick and the D-pad, and you can do this completely on the fly, at any moment. I kind of wish every controller in existence had this.

You'd actually have less precision with the d-pad cuz it lacks the same sensitivity you're complaining about. You'd be able to only run with the d-pad (unless they changed one of the face buttons to make you walk/run, but that's way too old an idea now that we've had analog sticks for such a long time).

What you could do in any situation which requires precision is walk slowly and push the stick in a more direct position. If your controller is way too sensitive, you could get a new one or just adjust the stick's sensitivity using Steam's controller configuration, which is free.

i dont care, games should offer these options and NOT force you! as a NES/SNES gamer i love these games with dpad.

so such ignorant posts are not helping and ignorant devs too. guess i should skip this game then.

Well, there's only one person here being ignorant...

And to be fair, the game was designed with the controls the way they are. It's not like the d-pad isn't being used for anything. You'd have a lot more problems switching elements with a stick as those things aren't designed for four-way auto-selections. Otherwise, why do you think weapon wheels are, well, wheels?

If you're one of those people who think the world should bow to you and meet your demands, then I agree. You should definitely skip this game cuz no one here (especially not the devs) owe you anything. If the controls bother you so much to the point where you throw a tantrum, then this game just isn't for you and you should stop complaining and play something you already know you enjoy.

Have a good one.

So I found out by accident that the mode switch on my Logitech controller swaps movement between the analogue stick and the d-pad. I thought I'd broken something at first. Perhaps controller-specific, but I have used it myself for railing walks.

You could always use the keyboard for movement. For full functionality, use a program like joy2key to map the keyboard inputs to your controller.

It ain't that hard, but yeah, just use the keyboard if you need it.

Though I'll admit, the controls aren't as customizable as I'd like them either. For example, KB+M players should be able to toggle whether 'clicking close to Lea' does melee or not, as there's already a dedicated melee button anyway.
It would've also been nice to hold the dodge button to do dodge arts, instead of having to hit dodge then quickly hold charge. Not because I think dodge arts are too hard to perform, but I'd rather not fly off the edge when I want to dodge in and melee art something.
