I broke a quest.. Root Cause.
can someone fix it? i don't want to re do the dungeon :(

for anyone that hasn't yet, when you are supposed to follow the scientist lady away from the temple to the power plant DO IT. DO NOT go back into the temple for mats and then come out the front door! you will come outside to the first string of that quests combat and shatter the sequence. then if you go talk to her in her office, the combat wont continue past the first wave and you can no longer complete the first task of the quest "follow her to the lab" .

oh yeah, I did that back in the day. had to reload my save as the autosave happens upon enterance to an area, not exit. IF they have not fixed this, you will have to load an old save, not contiinue your auto. would be nice if the auto save would keep a few back so you could pick a few maps ago if you needed to.

yeah i wish that were the case. ended up having to re do the dungeon and the first chunk of that quest. a list of 3 or so previous auto saves would be neat. but they might not want it to be so easy to load back like that. would act too much like save states on hot keys on emulators (in the dungeons and what not)

I can understand that, but the only save state would be from a few puzzles back. what you could do if you want to get the fastest (game time) run, you just solve the puzzle and go to title, then continue and you restart the room at the enterance time. This would be fixed if you had multi room puzzles, but that would take alot of effort to change the current zoning.

Hey there,

this sounds like a critical bug that we may have missed up to this point.

Can you explain in more detail how it happened? Afair you should not be able to enter the temple since there is a barrier, but I'll have a look at it later.

Hey again,

I had a closer look that the quest but couldn't really reproduce the issue.
So a more detailed explanation on how the error happened would be very helpful.

there is also a spot in one of those dungeons where you can get stuck and can't get out without reloading or map warping (which im not certain you can do until after finishing a dungeon). I found it while going back for those chests. any chance you guys are hiring play testers :p ?

Hey, sorry. Ok, yeah. lets see... After finishing the dungeon and opening the new gate with the items you just got, all the shad roll up and block said gate. Scientist lady, and and Shad lady exchange some words and then you get a quest to "Follow the Scientist to the powerplant" or w/e it is. DON"T follow her off screen. Go back to the "Up" or "Down" portals that takes you back into the dungeons (i had done this in order to backtrack for chests and crafting materials before moving on) Once inside, make your way to the entrance of the dungeon and leave through the front door. Doing so will take you outside (between the front door of the dungeon and the power plant barrier) where the first pole and a couple shokats are waiting. This will start the first combat encounter for that lady's quest. It will let you fight the poles inside that area, and the next set that happens below the barrier/ wrap around the power plants right face. This will force the scientist lady to trigger her next set of quest dialogue and breaks the sequence, at which point you can no longer complete the first Task "follow scientist to power plant" she will just be outside ready for the barrier battle and in her office afterwards. Even if you escape and return and she gives a piece of the first tasks dialogue, you still can't get her to reset to the areas entrance in order to follow her to the lab. Also, after doing this, leaving the area and coming back respawns the first pole and the shokats but wont spawn any more past the first pole/ set of kats

if it matters, i did the dungeon that gives the shock element first.

i can't remember if the barrier went down at first after i did the first combat string out of sequence. i think i remember it not coming down at one point since the scene ends at the wrong time and she never tells the guards to take the barrier back down. If so you have to warp back to the area left of the lab and walk back in order to get to the next broken set of dialogue

1. clear dungeons
2. receive task for Root Cause and do not leave area
3. re enter dungeon through exit portal
4. backtrack and leave through dungeon entrance
5. clear mobs
6. try talking with lady
7. desperately plead with lady to reset
8. recall that you can't abandon/ re accept quests
9. cry a little bit
10. re - load a "too old" save file.
11. destroy emilie in a race

Ohhhh! Okay thanks a lot for the response.

Okay that makes a lot of sense, I entirely forgot about those teleporters.
I think an easy fix will be to close off the entrance to the Zir'vitar Dungeon from both sides while those enemies are in front of the entrance.
