"Failed To Save" "Could Not Prepare Save"
FIXED: Moved my old saves to a new location, uninstalled and reinstalled, created a new game played the prologue then saved, exited the game, copied the old save to the save folder and let it overwrite the newly created save game, it loaded and I could save.

MAKE SURE YOU KEEP BACKUPS PEOPLE!

I logged off last night same as usual. Start it up this morning, and play for a little while then it says "Failed To Save" when trying to save the game. So I restarted the game but the issue persisted.

I read this issue is fairly common at least on console, and a couple reports on PC. I have backups thanks to the save manager. So I set an older save and load up the game and try and save. "Failed To Save". Well ♥♥♥♥. I read that moving your save file, starting a new game then replacing the newly created save with your old one fixes it. But when attempting to do so "Save File Is Corrupted, Delete and Create a New Save?" (even though there is no save file in the remote folder??) "Yes" "Could Not Prepare Save"

I've tried running as admin, restarting my PC, verifying game cache, loading and saving while offline. I've tried many of my backup saves, but the issue persists on all of them.

In short, I cannot save games, but can load them. I cannot start new games. After over 120 hours too...

EDIT: I reinstalled and managed to start a new game so far.

Upload some of your save games, maybe a developer can look in to it? Also check if you have enough free space where Steam/the game is installed to, you may have run out considering you claim to have thousands of saves.

I've uploaded my save and some backups and I removed all the saves, and tried to create a new game but it still said failed to prepare save. I'll try loading my most current save and removing all other saves from the folder and saving. Also it's a thousand not thousands, and only takes up about 500MB, still have 2TB to spare unless there's a limit on the size of a save folder on Steam, which would be weird.

I meant like upload some to a file sharing website and post a link to them here so the devs can potentially download 'em and give them a look.

I did, but then removed it because I completely fixed the issue. :]

I just ran in to this issue and spent about an hour trying to figure out why I suddenly couldn't save my games, including an attempt to freshly start over. I was using a save manager mod and I deleted a save and after that this crap happened so it has something to do with that (for me at least) I believe.

Anyways I finally resolved it in a far easier (IMO) way than redownloading the game. The issue seems to be with Steam's save folder for the game. I went in to steam, my user number directory then the game's save folder (another number, in my case and I believe all cases it is 367500) and I renamed that directory just to blind Steam to it's existence.

Upon launching the game it treated me as a first run and ran through the initial settings options, steam had created a new folder, the same number, and a new save file is created. At this point you can deleted that save file and move your original save file in to that directory, launch the game and you are good to go.

Sorry to revive a dead thread but I'm having the "Failed to save game" issue as well only I just bought the game and it seems that I can't save anything I have plenty of space on my drive so space can't be an issue and I've done the steps as provided by Capcom themselves and it still won't work Any suggestions?

I did what Flex.Headstrong suggested and that fixed it for me IIRC.
