Can you lose a level in the darkzone or just exp?

If you die as s rogue, will you lose exp toward your next level or you can actually go back to past level, for example, if i just hit lvl 17 and die and lose 300 xp, will i be lvl 16 again, ?

in the beta you could lose dz levels

You'll lose XP, lose enough and you'll retract back to the previous DZ level.

OP sadly the PVP is not more hardcore and you don't lose much. It is like many other games that don't do PVP right.
