Noble Houses
I note in the update video that there is a finite limit to the number of nobles in these houses. What happens in the event all of them are killed?
Does that house fall into anarchy? Do the holdings they had become independant? Will a usurper have a chance to reconstitute the house in question?

Indeed, you ask a lot of very interesting questions that I, too, would like to see answered. I suspect that in an event in which all current leaders of the House are dead game will generate new ones, for simplicity's sake, although the potential for this part of the game seems limitless.

Oh I agree, the introduction of Noble houses and you as a Mercenary company commander are limitless.
I also feel the game needs to borrow from the early Warhammer game management, in which there is a formal commander...not REPRESENTED on the game map and a Factor that handles the company finances contracs etc. I will see if I can dig up a video of this.
Here is a video, isnt the best but if you watch it you will see the mechanics of the mercenary company mangement overlay that gives context to the organization.
I feel something like this would benefit the game to add more flavor. At any rate just a idea over a non existant theme as it is currently.

As I understand it, it won't be possible to kill all relatives of one noble house, because you can only meet some and not each of them on the battlefield.
It is said here at 8m35s:

He says some of them you can even meet on the battlefield and kill them. Not sure if that means you cannot kill all of them? Anyway if that IS the case its a shame because it would have a whole new dynamic to the game world by allowing for the disolution of these houses, anarchy and the appearance of a NEW noble house under a ursurper.
Just my two bits.

There's up to four faction leaders of a noble house you can interact with at a time. They'll contract you for mercenary work, and you can fight with or against them, and also kill them. It's implied in the game that each noble house has a large number of people to draw on, both from family and loyal vassals, that can be promoted to positions of power. If a noble gets killed, someone else takes his place. Noble houses will be able to gain and lose holdings independently of this. There's potential for a lot more here, no question about it, but we have to start somewhere :)

Shadow of the Horned Rat is my personal inspiration for Battle Brothers, btw.

Woot! Thanks, how about adding a SOTHR type mercenary company management overlay? Or is that redundant? I think it would add more atmosphere to the game as it did in SOTHR?

Mmm... Battle Brothers meets Crusader Kings...

I think I peed a little at the thought of it.

Yep hard not to get excited by the possibilities here, and the thought that the devs may invest more thought into this aspect of the game.
