Wine & Battle Brothers
Just wondering if anyone has got this working with Wine on Mac OS X or OSSierra? I tried earlier today on a 09 macbook and failed at it due to opengl issues.

I am fairly new to wine, but am going to play around with it later today to see if I can force it to use core vs legacy. (only game I have had issues with wine doing this so far is this game oddly enough otherwise, the opengl hasn't been a issue)

Anyone else have any experience with using Wine etc and getting this to work?

Wine is a good provision but a bit expensive IMHO.

Lol I hope your joking. I am talking about the program wine for mac that allows windows games programs etc to be run on mac OS without bootcamp

Can't help you, sorry. I messed around with it for about an hour. Then I just gave up and used bootcamp. 25GB disk space. No regret.

Wine allowed me to play an older game such as Jagged Alliance 2 without any stuttering on a newer Windows 8.1, but Im not sure if it would help with BB. Good luck :p
I think there's an app to allow running BB on Mac though, some people here have told that it works. Search the forum with Mac keywords or ask around. I think it had something to do with remote play or an emulator or smth. I think it might work for you.

Still working on getting this up and running in wine or even the playonmac app. Had some initial success that got past the opengl3.3 or greater error, getting crashes now though. Hopefully I can get it up and running here fully when I have time and throw up a workaround for the macs that doesn't require bootcamp install or a linux side.

Remember.

WINE = windows sale

Less incentive to port over a native mac version.

Hi Gr0undNP0Und,

How did you get around the OpenGL 3.3 issue?

Any luck with this @Gr0undNP0Und?

No I am still trying things sadly. I did boot up a bootcamp with windows 7 on it and works fine. I know there is a workaround with playwithlinux (havent tried it dont use linux but found it on a forum post using google) Currently with playwithmac and other wine variations i have gotten no where. I have gotten past the opengl3.3 boot by enabling/dling certain playwithmac scripts but it crashes immediately. Once I am not busy at work again I will continue playing around with it and see if there is a way around it. I really wish Mac would just un**** their constant gpu issues. I find them better than windows for work computers, but utter trash for gaming (yeah I know I could run linux, but with games even they run into issues no matter what linux you run.)

I got the current version running just fine on my linux box with wine.
To get around the opengl issue you first have to add the parameter
-gl30
as a launch option in steam.
Then i ran into some opengl related game crashes and had to set
MESA_GL_VERSION_OVERRIDE=3.3COMPAT

To do this you have to set this as an environment variable before starting Steam.
This is how my Desktop link for starting stema looks like:

env MESA_GL_VERSION_OVERRIDE=3.3COMPAT WINEPREFIX="/home/<username>/.wine32" /usr/bin/wine C:\\windows\\command\\start.exe /Unix /home/<username>/.wine32/dosdevices/c:/users/Public/Desktop/Steam.lnk

Do this and BB runs fine.
Tested with intel haswell and radeonsi.

Hi Muller,
I have just ran into the open gl problem. Could you please show me how or where to edit the "startup script" .. Or you start this from terminal?

There is something similar you wrote:
http://portingteam.com/topic/10877-how-to-run-open-gl-v33-games-with-wineskin/

MESA_GL_VERSION_OVERRIDE=3.3COMPAT export MESA_GL_VERSION_OVERRIDE

They are copying this to the startup script. Could anyone tell me where or how can be the startup script edited.. Well I am not a super low user. I am far beyond that so it shouldnt be that hard. I am just struggling with mac a bit.
