There is no "DRM-free" version of Linux build, so if it says you need to run it through Steam, then that's what you will need to do.
What do you mean it should still run *a* version? Any other exclusive version to run successfully Downfall on linux platform?
Thanks for your respond dev.
We're now moving it over to the new Proton method, which is currently in Steam Beta. The Proton method simply runs the Windows version, but Linux users are feeding back that this method works very well.
Valve are not currently able to allow the native Linux version to exist at the same time, but they say they will look into it for the future. So it will seem like the Linux version is "gone", but really, it's just waiting in the wings until they allow us to switch it on alongside Proton.
For now, Linux users will play the same (Windows) version as everyone else.
Information on how to set up the Steam Play beta is here: https://itsfoss.com/steam-play/
As such, the native build is "offline" as of today and so advise Linux users to try the new method. Please note, if you find yourself stuck in a strange loop, you may need to:

To be clear, I'm not really looking for a dev response (since they already said they don't support it, which is fine), but something from an end user who's had experience running (or not running :P) the game.
