Why - one ?
"... The fleets of the Adeptus Mechanicus are composed of types of vessel found in other Imperial fleets as well as more unique vessels, such as the near legendary Ark Mechanicus."
Source : http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Adeptus_Mechanicus_Fleet
And even more could be found browsing BL books.
P.S. Heresy comes from knowledge, yet it have to be fertilized by ignorance at first.
It's true the vast majority of AdMech ships (with the notable exception of the "Ark Mechanicus" battleship classes) are based on the same hulls as Imperial classes (Gothic, Lunar, Dictator, etc) but there are some key differences:
the bad:
--AdMech ships are more expensive, costing 10-40pts more per capital ship
--AdMech cannot take battlecruisers or grand cruisers
--AdMech cannot use boarding torpedoes or assault craft
--enemies can re-roll boarding /hit & run attacks against AdMech vessels
the good:
--there exists physical models for AdMech battleship, cruiser, light cruiser, and escort -sized ships. They are longer and slimmer than Imperial Navy ships, and the prow is a blunt cog & skull design rather than a sharp beak. So the fleet would look visually distinct in a video game.
--All AdMech ships have a starting Leadership value on average +1 better than Imp Navy ships
--All AdMech capital ships get a "Gift of the Omnissiah." These are random (but would likely be hand-chosen in the video game) and range from situational "emergency energy reserves" (less penalties when crippled) to always useful "augmented weapon relays" (makes their wpn batteries & lances function like Eldar wpn batteries /lances).
--All AdMech vessels gain +1 turret value
--All AdMech cruisers (including light cruisers) gain a 60cm dorsal Lance battery (270* fire arc)
--Any AdMech cruiser or battleship with 6+ prow armor may choose to replace their prow torpedoes with a Nova Cannon (assuming it doesn't already have a Nova Cannon)
--Any AdMech capital ship that keeps its torpedoes may take Torpedo refits (seeker torps, melta torps, etc) without needing to roll for them on the refit table
--AdMech capital ships with 30cm Macro-batteries are plasma-boosted to 45cm range.
--AdMech Endurance/Endeavor light cruisers can upgrade their prow armor to 6+ for free (halving their turn rate) and may replace their prow torpedoes with dorsal (270*) Lances for free
In addition AdMech fleets must always roll on the Quest For Knowledge subplot table, which can further alter their fleet from their Imperial roots. Depending on what is rolled, they get a side objective that grants increased Renown earned, and/or a single ship is upgraded with tech ranging from Mimic Drives (appear as a different class/tonnage until fired upon), bonus void shields, or Lances that ignore Shields, to name a few.
That is one awesome model.
2 by next week, the other 2 before release?
Afaik, 4 race at release were mentioned by trailer movie. So it means + Orksand + Eldars. Ofc if more will come with DLC - thats ok for us, right ?
I was meaning that because the game isn't stable right now, get Imps and Chaos working stable online by the weekend, then they add in Orks and Eldar and re-stabilise the game with them in before release.
Adeptus Mechanicus is really just another flavour of the Imperial Navy if you want to think of it that way, or vice versa, since the Imperial Naval Ships are more or less all maintained or built by the Mechanicus.
But the difference being that Imperial Navy Vessels are for defense and offense, whilst Mechanicus vessels are generally part of explorator fleets searching out lost worlds and archeotech. The form may be similar, but the function is vastly different.
One must also consider the fact that even though the Mechanicus build and maintain Imperial Navy vessels, they are incredibly protective of the technology they worship. I would contend that since the Mechanicus are not in direct control of Navy vessels that it stands to reason they will not equip Naval vessels with the same technology as they would give their own ships.
From a gameplay perspective Mechanicus could be viable:
Better weapons, better shields, possibly even better crew rating due to the presence of Skitarii. This would be reflected in a higher points cost for non-escort vessels and a greater tendency to flee as the worshippers of the Omnissiah could not bare to see their blessed machines destroyed.
