About Classes
I read somewhere that this isn't a class based game, but some discussions have people asking which class people are going to play. I personally like classes in rpgs, but I'm willing to drop it if it still feels like an rpg.

Anyone know if there are classes?

It's a skills based game. The level-up dynamic is quite different from PoE. The game emphasises Magic though.

There aren't classes as such, but by choosing your skills you can still pigeonhole yourself into an classbased archetype if you wish to do so. :)

You can choose from various skill tress to make your character anything you want - if you want rogue, mage and warrior skills all in one it's possible to do so, and if you want to focus on just one or two of these that's possible too...

No classes in the 'traditional' sense. But, you can certainly play a 'rogue-like' character by focusing on the skills and talents needed for that character type. :moveicon:

Edit: It does sound like an echo-chamber in here. :happy_creep:

I think that while it is a skill based game, the real classes are determined by the talent trees. Selecting one or more talent trees will determine how you play and what gear you will use. It is not that you selects skills, but select a talent tree and then raise skills that complement that tree.

Your main has 6 trees: there is a melee tree, a magic tree, a tanking tree, etc.

Your party members have only 2-3 trees and investing in one or another will determine the "class" of the NPC. But hybrid builds are possible and encouraged.

As an example, one of the first party member you get is a roguish character. She has one dual wielding tree and one archery tree. You can specialize in one or go half way in both.

Except for spells. Everybody in your party will be able to cast at least a heal or a damage spell. Be prepared to have 4 spell casters in your party.
