Black Mesa Devs, you messed up We've Got Hostiles.
You made the chapter WAYYYYYY too hard. Look, you do have a great game but keep in mind the difficulty. In my opinion, i think you should update the game with downgraded H.E.C.U. AI.

Correction: hard for you. What level are you playing it on?
The easiest difficulty, and also I do think atleast 10 other people would agree with me.

Alright Jeff. Half-Life is notoriously a hard game and Black Mesa can be even harder at times. Yes, the "easy" difficulty is anything but easy.

Whether or not it's difficult is a bit of a subjective matter. I personally find them a bit challenging, but not so hard to the point I keep dying to them. There are a few things you can do to make sure you win:

-Do not linger around for too long. The AI will look for ways to flank you. Make sure you don't let them.
-Look for cover to fire from. When you drop one of them, go behind cover to reload so that you're not exposed.
-Use grenades. They can also use grenades, but you have the advantage of being able to throw them back to its sender.
-If you can close up the range to them without exposing yourself too much, double-fired shotgun becomes highly effective. It can do decent damage even when it's close-ish to the medium range.

The most important thing is to not think of it as Half-Life gameplay. Half-Life is more simpler in the sense that the HECU didn't even more while they were firing. Because of this, cover is a lot more important to use in Black Mesa, while also taking it slow.
There is a distinct difficulty spike at the WGH chapter.
I vaguely recall it was a tricky chapter in HL1 too. The problems probably due to the map layouts coupled with HECU opponents, which is obviously similar in both games, but in Black Mesa I think it gets a bit much in places.

The fights there are very poorly structured, yes.
You just need to keep training. I remember when I played the original Half-Life and encountered the marines, they SEEMED so difficult because their A.I wasn't brain dead like nearly every other game. Enemies typically just wait for you and shoot or they just stand there and do their one by one thing rather spread out and converge.

You just need to train, learn their patterns and get better at anticipating their maneuvers.

Unlike other games they won't just let you take cover and pick them off, they will begin deploying grenades and flanking. The goal is to keep you looking in two three directions, not one.

It's how you engage is what makes the difference. But personally, it's when you get to the surface after you ride the elevator to the top is when the difficulty can show at times. It's those mortar strikes; that can instant kill in a few hits. The Marines just keep you on your toes. Best thing I always do at this point is just take out the soldiers first and then run to the bunker.
I feel like it is as hard in the original game
Even on Hard the H.E.C.U. are pretty cowardly. I found they try to hide if you try to snipe them with the Revolver and crossbow, no do they rush in like the Combine would unless there is no other choice. By the time you get the Tau cannon, their easier to kill than the aliens.

After last major update they did I agree. This section was never "easy" in HL, and I remember throwing many hissy fits as a kid trying to beat it lol

For what it's worth my best advice is when feel like hit a brick wall, just say F it, quick save best place you can and just run out there, get blown up a couple times but try to like make it to diff parts of the area's map, learn the nooks and crannies, usually some path you can creep along, or book it to anywhere in the game that lessens the fighting you have to actually do and many times you can bypass large sections of enemies even in BM by just running past them, i know easier said than done but its possible especially just start save scrubbing when feel like game's being cheap anyways..lol btw "BM" terrible abbreviation.

It really depends on your training with shooters. The key combo is a very important part.
I always bind my movement buttons and first attack to my mouse and the rest concentrated on the right lower half of the keyboard.
When you have mastered that, it should play like a breeze, even on Mesa-difficulty.
Keep playing and it will get easier. :) And more enjoyable.
For me, the levels in Black Mesa are very balanced out.
I remember on HL getting stuck on the rail-train for hours, without finding the exit.
That was the most frustrating part of the original one, for me.
I swear if i get another comment from this...
I got past it! Jeez.
