December Update Shadow Bugs?
Ever since I opted into the Lighting Update beta, the shadows in-game (using Surface Tension as a testing ground) have been glitching out severely. The CSM-made ones seem to be flickering in and out of existence constantly, outside shadows start rendering in places they normally shouldn't be, and the new dynamic ones are rather blurry.

Any idea what might be causing this to happen?

What are your system specs?
Lazlo Apr 2, 2018 @ 9:07am
System specs are:
16GB RAM installed
AMD R7 200 series GPU (no idea what the exact model is)
Intel i5-3750K CPU, 3.4GHZ, Quad core
1920x1080 pixel monitor, 59Hz refresh rate
250GB solid state drive, 250GB hard drive.

The new renderer has some issues with AMD GPUs, which are probably causing the flickering. We have had a patch in the works for a long time to fix this, which we are still internally testing. We are hoping to deploy it shortly.

When using the new godrays the game often gets very blurry. But this was also a known issue I think.

So the issues aren't something I should be concerned about?

You are correct, there is no need for concern.

The following thread has some temporary recommendations for AMD gpu's, pay particular attention to GordonFreeman developer posts, if you're interested.

You're playing a beta branch of an Early Access title. Even some graphical bugs are usual at that point in development :happymeat:

This is fixed on our current hotfix patch. Over the last few weeks we've been continually updating and internally testing the hotfix on Steam, but we keep finding breaking issues on the Steam build and having to repeat the process again, which is time consuming and complicated. I think we're on the 6th Release Candidate now. The patch will be out soon, I hope, as we're honing it in more and more.

Not for now; they should be fixed soon. If they persist after our next hotfix, THEN it's something to be concerned/for us to try and do something about.

Are you planning to include the improved prop lighting in the upcoming hotfix as well, or hold off on that until Xen is fully released? Also, if I recall correctly I believe that the dynamic shadows currently only update like 7 times per second, are there any plans to increase that? It looks quite jarring in some places

On an unrelated note, I don’t know if this is somehow related to the endless war on the Korean bots or whatnot, but I haven’t been able to log on to the official forums. I sent you a PM on Facepunch with more details, don’t know if you’re the right person to be reaching out to or if that was the best platform to do so but I’d appreciate some quick help

Yeah, it's bot related. I will link this post in the bms forums.

Thanks for that, just for a little more context I’ve had my steam account linked with it for ages but I upgraded my rig about a year ago and my old pc was my only login. I’ve been trying to verify the new device since then so I can actually use the account, but obviously I have yet to get anything

Been trying multiple times on mobile but still haven’t gotten any code. Cleared website data for it just for good measure too since it only seems able to send it on initial login, but still nothing :/

What was you bms forum username, I will bring it to the attention of CatEyes93 and Hubicorn.
