Hello Sprayface,
I'm sorry for the loss of your game progress, and I understand your frustration over the data loss. The game developers did not mean to cause you to feel frustration while playing the game.
I'd like to help restore your game's progress, if you feel up to helping a bit by describing where you were in the game. I'm reasonably certain I could create a savegame file for you very quickly which puts you back approximately where you were, but you'd need to describe to me what cutscene you skipped (I realize this may be hard since you skipped it), or describe what progress you had made in the game and what inventory items you had picked up at the point you selected the Chapters menu.
I believe from your description that you were in Chapter 2, Part 2 in the Twin's House . I could just create a savegame file that puts you at the beginning of that section of the game again, or if you describe what you have already done there and what inventory items you picked up, I can create that file for you. You'll then need to copy this file into the savegame location (which is c:\users\<Your Windows Login Name>\appdata\roaming\Fran_Bow\).
You can either respond to this post with this information, or, if you'd rather, you can go the Killmonday Games Gamer's Support website at this link: https://franbowgame.wordpress.com/gamer-support/ and fill out the form there and give me the information requested and submit it (I'll get the information although I may not be able to reply for a few hours if you submit that form--it would be much quicker if you submit the info here--I'm sorry about that). If you post the info requested here, I'll post again with a link to the file in the cloud for you to download and copy to your computer. If you fill out the form, I'll email the file to you in my response.
I realize that this is not the ideal situation for you, Sprayface. But I can tell you that Killmonday Games wants you to be happy with your purchase of the game, and this is the best I can do to improve your impression of the game.
Whether you take advantage of my offer or not, I hope that you can enjoy the rest of the game. Thanks for posting about this issue.
on accident i skipped was the cutscene with the frog crossing the river. so a save game right before that would be awesome!
what i was mostly dreading was having to do the mirror puzzle that was tough O_0 i was definitely coming back regardless! awesome game!
thanks for the quick and thorough reply!
Please download and copy this file "savedata.ini" to this location:
c:\users\<Your Windows Login Name>\appdata\roaming\Fran_Bow\
and overwrite the file already there (or you can rename it to some other name if you want to save it).
If you can't see the "appdata" folder under c:\users\<Your Windows Login Name>\, then you probably have "Don't Show Hidden Files, Folders and Drives" marked in Folder Options. To change this setting, please refer to this link for instructions: http://kb.winzip.com/kb/entry/26/.
This savegame is configured for Windowed mode at 854 x 480 resolution. If you wish to change this, select the Options Menu off the Main Menu of the game and change the settings to your liking.
To get back to where you were, select the "Continue" menu pick off the game's Main Menu.
You'll need to first talk to the toad, then give the Toad the Baking Powder again and I believe you'll be on your way from where you left off. There is a mini-game immediately after you jump on the Toad. If I guessed wrong about exactly where you were, please post again.
If, in the future, you want to experiment with Chapters menu, you can "save" your current progress by making a copy of the "savedata.ini" (name it something else and/or copy it out of the folder it is in). Then select the Chapters menu and go where you wish. To return to the prior saved game, just copy or rename the original file back to "savedata.ini" and put it back into the "Fran_Bow" folder.
Thanks for your patience, and thanks too for your kind words about the game.
Have fun with the rest of the game.
I'm glad it worked for you! Thanks for letting me know.
im almost finished with the game now, i absolutely adore it.
