Random crashes?
I've been getting random crashes while playing FF-X. The game will completely close at random points during the game. ( Happened 4 times so far, one of them being mid cut-scene.) No black screen, freezing or anything like that, just straight up game closes itself.

Does anyone know what's causing this?

Thanks for reading.

Try Kaldaien's mod... I had to dig though you posts to find you're on a laptop that has dual GPUs (though tbh calling Intel HD a GPU is a bit out there)... My guess is it's trying to run on the Intel HD instead of the GTX 840m

EDIT: spelled the name wrong ;/

Try enabling your games to use your Gtx 840m instead of your Intel HD. You can do this through nvidia control panel.

for me, there were two options: GTX 750M and a 'cpu' one which i think its the intel card..... I'm using the gtx now but it still stuck in a crash-a-fest....

messing around the options now to see if anything else can stop these crashes..... no way im doing lightning dodger if the game has a chance to crash like every 30min or 1hr

Keep messing with the options. You might want to consider lowering the settings down all the way to see how it runs, and if it runs well, then slowly edge them back up.

Thunder Plains would be horrible with frequent crashes.

There's a chance the game is using Intel regardless of what you are setting it to use. Using the UnX mod will guarantee it's using your discrete graphics card.

Ahh, I'll try out the mod and see if I get any crashes. Btw, you didn't need to go out of your way to find my specs; I would have just told you if you asked. However I do appeciate it. :P

I've also checked to see if Steam was using the 840m, which it wasn't. Going in game quickly to check if anything changed showed I was able to bump up the graphics a bit (which is nice because I was on low originally. Makes me wonder what other games aren't using the better card...) So I'm hoping that being on the better card will actually make a difference in not crashing.

I'll post back if the mods and correct graphics card still fail.

Thanks for the help, everyone. :steamhappy:

my game crashed whenever i change maps (happened about 5 times so far.. im now in luca). and also sometimes, one of the character models goes missing. happened lots of times as well. any idea whats causing this or is it the graphic card too?

well, there was a part where it kept crashing 100% with high settings (the part where the crusaders planning to lure and attack SIN, the checkpoint where you need to un mount your chocobo, after the wagon has passed. the guard will say you are not permitted to pass, then a small cutscene where the maester appears to let u pass). so i gotta tune down to the lowest then, no issues already. after that you just tune the graphics back up :).

normally the crash is random, stuck at the ap counting screen after victory. but yes. most would be during the initiation of cutscenes. occurrence can be around every 30 min to an hour.

soo, i suggest safe often, and if you plan to grind do it where the area has a sphere. other wise , there isn't much solution available atm :<
