Report a translation problem
The game just expects a CD drive to be present. On modern Windows you can just open any ISO file with explorer and it will create a virtual CD drive for you, which is the easiest way.
Other options are installing WinCDEmu, Alcohol 120, Daemon Tools Lite or any other software that can create virtual CD drives.
Previously we had to mess around with virtual DVD drive software to get around that, but a user in our Discord (Stone-D) has patched the igame.dll to finally remove this check.

I have asked GOG about including this patch (and the community patch) in their release of the game, fingers crossed!
For the Steam release, I would have to contact Atari but last time I did that, I was just met with silence. So I guess we're out of luck here. Buy the game on GOG!
