Can't plot course, what am I missing?
First let me say I have a 4A FSD.

I was trying to go from Acantha to HIP 78446 (I believe). Anyway, on the map it didn't look that far, but I noticed that intervening stars weren't labelled. Is that normal? Why can't I plot a course.

It was an actual place, because I entered it into the search bar and the map moved to the labelled star, but I can't plot it for some reason.

sounds like theres locked systems between you and your destination. sometimes you can plot routes around the systems to get to where you want to go

Also is there an easy way to plot out a path using a online database or something like eddb? I have the VR version, so pointing an clicking is practically impossible.

2 questions:

1. 4A FSD, in what ship?

2. How far away is it?
Anything over 1000Ly can't be plotted.

That might be it, I did look at the map and that section did seem to be in a dead end section....

Believe me nutz, it wasn't 1000 LY. at most 200, and I am in a Asp Explorer, so I don't get it, but Wolf might be on to something.

That's probably your problem. 4A FSD isn't big enough for the Asp. Should be 5A. If you're short on funds I'll come drop you some cargo.

Must be 5A, cause I can jump over 20LY, fully loaded (64 cargo). Actually it is, I am thinking of my vulture, since I kitted it out yesterday. :steamhappy:

Next time I am on, I'll check for a permitted system nearby.

You've not selected the FSD boost option in the route planner have you?

Make sure that's set to either fastest or economical routes (FSD boost routes are only good for a single jump).

Nope, first thing I checked. Matter of fact, I don't even know what that does as I stick to fastest or economy if I can't make it. I really need to RTFM on some of this stuff....

Try plotting half way, see if that works, then try again closer, then try a neighbouring system to your target. See if you can spot at what point its failing.

This, ultimatly unless you let one of us in your game (haha don't be daft) this is the only way you'll solve it as eventually you'll get to the point you can no longer jump and you'll find out why lol

i once traveled as far as i could to the outer rim, then found everything exceeded my limit so i fueled up and plotted a cource back... ???... I cant plot a course anywhere not even back... the extra fuel i took on lowered my jump range, had to fly around for 3 hrs to use up enough fuel to jump lol

i was really wishing for a "fuel dump" button lol

I have the same problem with VR - entering system names with a keyboard is a PITA...and even though the game was intended for VR play and the galaxy map looks really cool in VR entering system names is woefully lacking.
