Best gamma setting?
I've run quite low gamma for a while now, and the good thing about it was how it made space dark, as in actually dark. But just now i found a black hole and got closer than 300 km but still couldn't see it. Turned up the gamma and it's way more noticable. Just wondering what settings you guys use?

I believe I'm two clicks below the default (which I think was roughly the center of the slider) - I'm not home so I can't look up the actual value in the config. I just recently changed this, and it made a big difference in the realism of the skybox for me in VR. I tried going three clicks, but that made some things too dark. I haven't seen a black hole since making the change, but nebulas look good.

As a side note, the other tweak I recently made along with this was to switch to 4K textures for the skybox & planets. It looks great and hasn't had any noticeable negative performance impact. I have a 1070 ti w/ 8 GB.

your gamma should be at 2.2

sounds like your brightness and contrast is not optimal.

first, set your gamma to 2.2.
Then use your brightness till you can barely see the black "1":

after that, use your contrast till you can see all numbers in white:

go back to the black screen again and test if you can see all numbers.
the "1" (black and white) should be barely visible but noticeable
