Can't play Horizons. Can't figure out the problem.
Okay so I'm able to play the base game of Elite Dangerous. Though I just got Horizons and it says it's installed and everything. I got to boot it up it goes to the Frontier logo then the Horizons logo then black screens then I get and error page then nothing still shows client is runny but black screen. I've had it up for about an hour or two thinking it was loading and still nothing. I've uninstalled reinstalled, validate files, check update, still does the same thing. Anyone have any ideas on what is wrong and what I should do to fix this issue?

Is your graphics driver up to date?

I believe they are but I'll update them and check just in case.

Yeah I tried updating my drivers and it's the same thing as before

Did you actually register Horizons on the frontier site? If not that's your problem. Steam can tell you whatever it wants. But it won't make you able to play the game if it's not registered with frontier.

horizons require bettes system configurations as the base game.
Do you own a MAC? Then its not possible to play..

Hmm that might be it but I'm way past the recommendations for the base game. 4GB RAM, i7, and such.

ok and what windows you use? 64 bit?
TiberiuS Apr 17, 2017 @ 1:37am
On MAC it won't work, unless you bootcamp Windows. (Because Apple is too idiotic to properly support up to date interfaces for the GFX hardware)

Also Horizons REQUIRES DirectX 11 and 64 bit

when the launcher pops up, there is also an option like in steam to repair your gamefiles. Try this? (options ->Validate game files) Open the launcher with administrator!

No! Stop giving stupid advice! The game does not need administrator permissions, this is not the Windows XP times.

Don't arbitrarily run stuff as admin!

Programs that need those permissions will ask you for them!

It's not a mac, it's windows and yes I'm using 64-bit. As I said before I already validated the game files so that's not the issue.

That should be easy to answer; what Windows version and graphics chip do you have? (Start dxdiag, Windows version is in the "System" tab, graphics info in the "Display" tab; no need to copy&paste the whole export.)

launch the launcher and in options select "display hardware survey"

or type "dxdiag" next to the start button in windows and run it

Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000
but yes I have DirectX 11 so that is not the issue.
