Note: This is a passive adapter. While DisplayPort connectors are capable of passing an HDMI® signal, DisplayPort and HDMI® signals are basically different and not compatible with each other. This adapter does not actively convert a DisplayPort signal into an HDMI® signal. In order for this adapter to function properly, you must have a DisplayPort source device capable of producing and passing out an HDMI® signal through the DisplayPort jack.
My 970 can pass an HDMI signal through DisplayPort. As I said, when I use the DisplayPort > HDMI adapter and plug it into my HDMI TV it works fine. For some reason, it doesn't work when I plug it into the Vive.
it's cheaper to just get a display port to mini display port cable however.
I've been running mine off one since the start...
Thanks for the info on the active adapter, I'll give that a try.
I am in the exact same boat. I show one missing driver in device manager, it had "VID" all over the settings, so I assume that's the headset.
Sounds like you're almost there —
Does the HTC Vive show up as an external display ?
If so , force resolution to 2160 x 1200 / 90 Hz and the
light should go white with desktop in headset.
Here is a post about detailing this issue with VIVE:
