Vive HMD USB issue and Basestations going to standby
Hello,
Im having an issue with the Vive. My HMD Usb seems to have a weak connection- Often when i lift the cables up a bit or readjust the headset, the usb seems to dissconnect. I tried opening the top lid and reseating the usb, and while i was just barely touching the usb it seemed to disconnect and reconnect. The USB seems to be a bit loose, but I was unable to fasten it any tighter.

I also have issues with the Basestations going to standby randomly, and then refusing to wake up, so i need to pull the power to reboot them. They often seem to go standby when I lose connection with the USB in the HMD. Does anyone know if the basestations turn off when you disconnect the HMD usb? If yes, does that depend on the bluetooth standby mode being activated or does it happen no matter what? I'm not 100% sure these issues are connected, but it often seems to go hand in hand. It also seems this issue has gotten worse and worse since i recieved the Vive.

Is there any potential solutions to this? Or do I have to consider and RMA?

while i do not know if that will help, i got all weird behavior from my base stations and controllers (and front camera) while i had the breakout box connected to an usb3 port.... after i switched it to a standard usb2 port, everything worked and my base stations and controllers didn't act funny anymore....

If bluetooth standby mode is on then anytime the headset goes down they will too.
I have the same issue, having to yank their power to get them back.
I never considered plugging the box into a usb2 port, my motherboard has glitchy usb3 drivers so i'll try that later myself, failing that will turn bluetooth standby off.
I also notice that if i plug in a usb bluetooth dongle for a joypad i can no longer wake them, so they use a common frequency. Have disconnected my phone too, bluetooth isn't known for maintaining connections to multiple things at once.

Turn off the Vive camera in SteamVR settings and it will work flawless :)
That USB shares bandwitch with Vive internal cam...
I use that port for Leap Motion :)
