Total War Three Kingdoms or Orential Empires?
Does Oriental Empires starts in the year of Warring States? Does anyone

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s4D42vMUSIM know what period it is?

Also Three Kingdom is coming out, would it better to get oriental empires or wait for 3K Total War?

Looks like CA are doing a fantastic job with Three Kingdoms, and I'm looking forward to playing it. But Three Kingdoms is only a hundred years in a history that spans thousands.

I'd suggest playing Oriental Empires while you wait for TW Three Kingdoms to come out. It'll give you an overview Chinese history and civilization and give you the context of why everyone is rebelling in Three Kingdoms.

"Oriental Empires covers the period from earliest recorded history, until the widespread adoption of firearms (roughly 1500 BC to 1500 AD) and aims to realistically depict the world of ancient China, with a focus on the unique aspects of that civilization." (quote from official website.)

to answer your 2nd question quickly. if you want to enjoy a more classic, full turn- based 4x game (think civ franchise) then you would choose "oriental empires". you would prefer total war if you, erm, prefer a total war game. ;)

Which one do you prefer? Oriental Empire does seem like a great 4x game

I search player for this game, have you anytime for a match???
Oriental Empires cpatures the culture and feel of China brilliantly. I've yet to see three kingdoms do the same. Also the absence of naval battles in the new Three Kingdoms is a major oversight. Naval power for control of China's many large rivers was key in many wars, and integral to warfare in the south.

I would recommend alongside this game an amazing mod for Medieval Total war 2 called rise of the three kingdoms. Its a brilliant mod that also captures the time jsut as good as anything I've seen in the new game.

That all said I am still keeping an eye on the new TW, but I just feel it will be like the Movie The last Samurai, Great Movie but is a western version of the reality of Japanese culture and history.
Also Wuchan has made some great scenarios on the workshop for this game covering very overlooked periods of Chinese hsitory, like the Northern and Southern dynasties, fall of Qin and 16kingdoms.

I would agree. To get a feel for this people should watch the movie Red Cliff to see the impact of river warfare during the Three Kingdoms period.
