How hard is the Windows 7 minimum?
I have Windows Vista 64-bit with DirectX 11. Lately it seems developers have been playing it safe by setting Windows 7 as their minimum. However, their games sometimes work fine anyway as long as they resist implementing their own hard filter. Any clue if my setup could run Galacide?

(Sorry, upgrading is not an option for me.)

id look into the developer more before purchasing any PHG title, but you probably wont be able to run it with that setup

Hey the Windows 7 min is mostly due to the fact that we have only been able to try the game on Windows 7 and 8 machines. I don't feel comfortable saying whether or not it will run on your setup without having tested it first. However we are using UE4 so if you have been able to play other games that run on UE4 then this should be no different.

I'm currently trying to see if anyone on our team has a windows vista machine that we can test on and will reply to the post with a less terrible answer.

Im pretty sure the win7 requirement is for certain DirectX features, as microsoft didnt backport directx 11 features, same thing they are doing with windows 10 and directx 12. I doubt it will be unplayable, but Vista is getting quite old so I also wouldnt expect it to be seamless.
Extended support from microsoft ends April 2017 for Vista, just as a heads up.

I think that is because the game is 64 bit only at least judging by the exe that was in the binaries folder

XP doesnt even support directX 10, so its a stretch for modern games to run on it at all :/
that and without extended support its really only something you want to use for older games. too many security issues and problems that will never be fixed without official microsoft suport
