Steam represents steam. Metacritic represents the whole internet. The internet does not have a good outlook on the game, check any social media website. It's 10:1 more or less. The game is becoming an icon of modern dis-service to gamers. People are pissed that such a beloved and classical series (probably the most important fictional work ever besides Shakespeare), is being milked as a cashcow by Warner Brothers. I don't see why people would defend a multi-billion dollar company for doing scummy ♥♥♥♥ because they like the game. You can like the game all you want, that does not make you a fanboy, that makes you somebody who wants to play a video game, but it absolutely makes you a fan boy when you white knight everything that the developers do. That enforces the developers to continue to do it.
The only people who think that are fools who have no idea how the loot boxes work in this game and how worthless they actually are.

The game was obviously designed without loot boxes in mind, and it never changed. WB threw in loot boxes at the last minute to create an additional revenue stream. The loot boxes don't do jack in this game except add a slight convenience for some people, that will last at most, an hour or two before that gear is replaced, if it is even used in the first place.

You get SO many legendary and epic items it's absurd. I've sold over 60 epics/legendaries, too many rares, sitting on 13k Mirian and about 300 gold, all from just playing the game. I am constantly having to sell stuff to to tidy up my gear screens and because I'm progressing extremely fast.

Anyone who whines about loot boxes has the same cred as someone who whines about an orc having a mutton chop or orcs talking in the game. It's absurd, and only fools make a fuss about nonsensical, meaningless things like that, which do not impact the game in ANY meaningful way, whatsoever.

Don't worry next time they will make it significant enough just like Fortza tried and just like Battlefront did.
"Probing" around to see what goes, and what sells. Since you bought it and supported it, they will try to get ballsy, and since people here are blinded fans they will get away with anything. Have fun.

So, you purchased the PC edition via a store, am I correct in this assessment?
I said nothing about which platform it's on.
Then you don't own it either, but congrats on that.

So what you're saying is, the microtransactions are a completely unnecessary, ♥♥♥♥ product?
Absolutely. Who said they were necessary?

What people who enjoy the game have been saying, is that the game is good, the mtx is completely irrelevant to the experience, and it's idiotic to "boycott" the game due to loot boxes, may as well boycott bcause orcs talk.

It's 2017... How much longer does one need to realize meta scores are useless and clearly do not ape reality?? :steamfacepalm:

Reviews for this game in particular will be of mostly 3 types.

1. Haters. (most of which will not play the game let alone buy it) People who hate MT's, and are enraged by the inclusion of them in SoW.

2. Fanbois. Fans of SoW that do not have the ability to see any fault at all what-so-ever

That is going to be the majority of the reviews right there, and why overall they will be effectively useless as such or even as data (the likes of which is incorporated to Meta scores).

3. Legit. People able to take a step back asses how MT's were implemented and offer a review not based on MT hate of a fans gushing admiration.

Three is sadly going to be the proverbial needle in the haystack amounts the reviews from the ones and twos. Drowned out by the incessant bickering (in "review" form) between groups one and two.

So what does all that mean? It means sod all the reviews, just make your own choice and then ignore all the white noise thinly veiled in the guise of "reviews".

Don't be stupid, they will probably base their MT success on the number of people that buy gold rather than the number of people that buy the game (but not the gold). So if no one buys the loot boxes they willl see it was a failure.

A problem with this is that games well established have implemented cruddy ideas of lootboxes and/or microtransactions prior to the release of this one. I've pointed it out before, WB's implementation in this game is contrary to what the market has been moving towards over the last few years.

Isn't it obvious? To make money from people that can't play the game and want instant gratification rather than waiting for a specific drop.

1) additional revenue stream for WB

2) slight convenience for the player, that IF better than what is already owned, will last 1-2 hours before being replaced.

It really serves no purpose for the player other than that. The game was obviously designed without loot boxes in mind and WB came in and changed that at the last minute. The devs said that in an interview, and now that I've had my hands on it, I can completely see that.

Either the microtransactions are worthless and therefore aren't worth the money they're being sold for, or, the game is compromised and isn't worth the money it's being sold for.

Either way, a ♥♥♥♥ product is being sold.

No reading comprehension?
THIS TIME it's what you get, NEXT TIME they will get ballsy.
As if the evolution of microtransactions went over every ones head..

Uh, did you miss the part where I said that there have ALREADY been games with worse versions of microtransactions?
