How do you want to penetrate flames?
With my sausage. lol I'm not a physics major, but shouldn't bullets pass through flames, or...
I have heard someone else mention this before, but no one has proven it to be true. If you can get undeniable footage that bullets won't go through flames, then submit it as a bug report. It's not like this would be intentional.
Flames detonate/kill/disable mortar rounds that pass through them. Very annoying.
thats a bug indeed,......the idea is that the flammer is a anti boobytrap device....mortar rounds should kill regardless,so im guessing somethings gone wrong somewhere...bullits do pass through....im guessing you have encountered one of the nasty dirty little hacking gits who have no talent and have to cheat because they are cr@p at all games...
What I hate is that once you are in flames, it is an instantaneous death. You sholud be able to respond, even if you're burning. Even a blind burning man can pull the trigger.

I'm not asking for three seconds or a steady aim, just a second, under some kind of suppression effect.
agreed...but have you noticed that some people.....not saying who they are or which clan....can shoot back....yet like you say...you cant......maybe someone should tell them.....
This "blind burning man" pulls the trigger because he has the biggest pain you could ever have in this world - and dies shortly afterwards.

Not to mention that your flesh melts away @ 1200°C which is so hot that the air around it alone is going to burn you horribly. (see the firestorm effect [en.wikipedia.org] )
To give you an idea what this heat can cause
This family was in a air-raid bunker during the firestorm yet they pretty much 'burned' without getting touched by a flame once - the clothing is still 'intact'. [i.imgur.com]

There is a certain reason why Napalm etc are banned by the Hague Conventions - mostly because of the inhumane pain and suffering they cause.

yeah but its a game ....a game where when your shot you wobble a bit and with the last gasp of life you turn and shoot the smart alec that had the cheek to shoot you,so im guessing if thats fine so is the guy on fire....shooting back....in the same spirit of the die, you got me im gonna get you! of the game, and dont get me started on nades or the mortars....
The thing you are talking about is "bleeding out" - bleeding itself isn't painful at all... just the wound you are bleeding from. But it is a rather small bullet wound (depends ofc how often and where you've been hit and by what).
You know you're going to die and you still have the strengh to control your muscles for a moment... unlike horrible pain where you don't give a ♥♥♥♥ about anything and just want to die fast.

Yeah, I'm fine with how flamethrowers work in game. I bet you could get third degree burns by just being near one of those flames without having it touch you.

they also bounce....now correct me if im wrong here but do flames bounce.....see the achievements list for this game! anything solid bounces the flames up so you dont get fried....ie stand in front of a rock and the flame should bounce...and u will be safe....or the concrete will deflect the flames up if you want to kill someone above you.

"A flamethrower projects a stream of flammable liquid, rather than flame, which allows bouncing the stream off walls and ceilings to project the fire into blind and unseen spaces, such as inside bunkers or pillboxes."
