A total new idea of in game voice communication.
Thinking about this game and the ingame voice comunication i think that there could be an intresting change about how it could work.

My idea is :

Team Leader can speak just to Squad Leaders and give them order.
Team Leader can only ear just what SL say to him. (button 1 for example)

Squad Leader can talk just with their Squad members and with TL with another key.

Squad Members can't talk at all an can just listen what their specific Squad Leader say.

This would improve a lot the immersion and the need of team coordination, as just a good chain of command and information could achieve the win.

The drawback of this system is that you need 2 different button for SL, if they want to talk with TL or with Squad Members.

Probably the best system is that SL can just talk to Squad Members and not with TL.

This would improve the emphasys on the "fog of war" that was always present on the battlefield where Platoon leader generally give orders but can't have effective feedback from every Squad.

Surely this would improve immersion as you can't ear player on the opposite side of the map scream, WTF ARE YOU DOING STOP CAMPING. BANZAI!

Also Squad member could ear SL only if they're inside a determined range from SL, otherwise they're alone on the battlefield.

Also this would maybe improve the Squad Fight that this game is missing right now.

What do you think? A more tactics and coordinated game would improve the fun or it's just a complication?

I would say the Squad Leaders had radio operators within their squads, and the voice was only heard from proximity.

The key point here is to made squad member totally dependant for information and tactics from their SL, this would maybe turn the metagame in a more realistic squad action other than free for all. Other game mechanics could change to improve the fact to be around your SL.
Something like, less suppression, ability to see other squad member only on map, ability to resupply for some ammo from SL etc....
Squad member had stay around SL to act properly and in a more realistic way.

I understand what you want to achieve, but it is unlikely to work in public games played with random people.

Of the few people that regularly use voip in random public games, only some are aware that there is already a key to only speak with your squad.

I beleive there is also a server side option to only show squadmates on the map/minimap.

It's important to note that these option further increase the difficulty for novice and casual gamers. This leads to less populated servers. The players that stay will probably be more willing to play tactically, but will probably have to make due with emptier servers.

Yeah imagine you have that lvl 11 commander and sl 1 and 2 are noobs and all the good players are spread across squad 1 and 2 as rifleman and they can't even talk to anyone lol.

Another problem may be (something that already was discussed in MWO regarding implementations of restrictions regarding voice chat) that established clans might use external voice chat services (Mumble, Ventrilo, C3, whatever) and therefore be independant from any VoIP restrictions established by the game (thereby getting an even huger advantages over opponents which are not in a clan, than they already have (due to training together)

I use the simplest solution. I mute all voice communication by turning it all the way down in settings. Got something you want to "say?" Type it, f.o.o.kface.

I think the upcoming RO2 mod In Country Vietnam has a radio class and SLs need them to talk to the TL, not entirely sure, you might wanna check out their website.

He is just a mobile radio i think who you need to call arty. It's funny tho when the radioman is a noob and you need to try to catch him around the map before he dies.
