How do I factory reset Steam Link
Hi, got my steam link yesterday, powered it up and got a picture of the link sitting in a blue puddle. Got lights on the network connection but the USB connections all appear to be dead as I cant get no output using my phone charging lead. Looking through the discussions I keep hearing about a factory reset but cannot see a procedure to do it plus the fact that my USB's are dead suggest I cant do it anyway. I've raised a support ticket but looking at the response suggests its going to take a while. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Ignore the troll. I can't remember where I saw it but there is a method to factory reset your Link. You will at least need a USB, do a google search or search in the forums.

Unplug the power cable and plug it back in a few times in sucession. Leave it plugged in for like 5 seconds each time- can force a factory reset.

Anytime you tell the truth apparently you're a troll. Lol. I know the method they are talking about and trust me it won't work. It's a brick and you are screwed. Happened to me.

Hi Lads, I did try the power thing as it was one of the first things I found in the forums. Guess I've just been unlucky....all I want is a replacement. I also found the USB guide but there is nothing at any of the ports power-wise so it wont help either. I'll just have to wait for customer support to get back to me (hopefully). Thanks for the replies.

You might not be totally hosed yet.

If your Link has never booted, you may just have a TV that is incompatible with early (from the factory) versions of the Link SW.

What TV make and model do you have?

Try connecting the Link to a different TV or monitor if you can. Try a different HDMI cable.

I recommend avoiding the rapid power cycling. It is possible to start a factory reset that way. But if your TV is not working, you will not be able to tell when/if the factory reset is done. So, you might disconnect power during system recovery. That would be bad.

Once the Link gets SW updates (on a different TV/monitor that works), then re-try with the original TV.

Have you tried to connect a simple wired USB mouse to the Link? Does the laser turn on? Your phone charger may try to draw more power than the Link can provide depending on your phone - disconnect your phone/charger and anything other than simple USB KB/mouse/controller for now.

Did you got it to work? I've booted mine and it was working on wireless normally.

I've pluggend the ethernet (with the steam link on) and it stopped working.

Now I cannot get it to boot again... both ethernet leds always on but no hdmi signal.
