Problem with Steam Controller and batteries
Hi everyone!
I have a problem with my Steam Controller.
I haven't used it a few weeks. Three days ago I wanted to play so I grabbed my SC.
When I pressed a Steam Guide button it didn't turn on. It only turns on when I reinsert the batteries (the same batteries).
When it works with Bluetooth, wireless receiver or USB cable there are no problems, every button works according to Big Picture Button Test. I can't turn it on.
I also can't use USB cable when batteries are in the controller, but when the batteries are out I have no problems.

EDIT:
Here is the video that shows the problem

You aren't supposed to be using the wired option when you have batteries in anyway. With some of the other stuff you have posted I'm not quite understanding what the other problems are.

When Steam Controller is with batteries I can't power it on with Steam Guide button (the one with Steam logo).
So when I want to play games while sitting on the sofa I need to open my SC backplate, take out batteries and reinsert them.

I just bought a very long USB extension cable and mounted a HUB next to the TV. Never need batteries again

Sounds like something wrong with the batteries or the button itself. If you go into the support option in Big Picture mode without batteries it does turn on if I'm reading you right. What brand of batteries are you using?

If I go into the support option in Big Picture when wired/no batteries every button works flawlessly (even the Steam Guide button).
When I insert batteries, controller turns on and it pairs to the Bluetooth - it also works flawlessly, BUT when I turn off the controller (using options in the Big Picture Mode) it turns off and I can't turn it on. The only option to turn it on when wireless is to reinsert the batteries.

For batteries I'm using AA Alkaline Energizer 1,5V

That is a very strange issue. You should probably go to Steam's support page.

Only other options I can think of are it is a Steam Client issue, and you should either change to beta, or the stable version, or you need to do a recalibration. Not sure if those will help, but it is the only other thing I can think of.

Are you absolutely certain the batteries are good? Try a new pair of batteries.

That said, if you're going to store ANY battery-powered device for any extended period of time, it's usually best to remove the batteries. This isn't unique to the Steam controller, this is true of flashlights, cameras, etc, etc.
