[Guide] setting up Steam Controler with NSMB in Dolphin Emulator

This Guide will help you setting up the Dolphin Emulator (DE) with the Steam Controler (SC) to play New Super Mario Bros. or other games

I will mainly orient myself on the Windows Version

After following these steps you will be able to start New Super Mario Bros. from Steam BPMode and play it with your Steam Controller. The Gyro in the SC will work as in the original Wii remote, so the shake and tilt features in NSMB can be used. Additionally the SCs Joystick will work as the IR remote and the right trackpad will work as mouse so you can close and maximise the DE Window.

------ What you need ------

• Installed Dolphin
  
• .iso-file of the game you want to play
  
• Installed Steam

------ So lets start ------

1. Open Steam and click on "Games" > "Add Non-Steam Game..."
   
2. In the list select Dolphin or click "browse" to find the Dolphin.exe
   
3. click on "Add selected programs"
   
4. open Explorer and go to %USER%\Documents\Dolphin Emulator\Config\Profiles\Wiimote
   
5. place this file in the folder: https://1drv.ms/u/s!AoWHXfp9cYCyiv9kLwpiflsKz7Pc9A
   
6. connect your SC(s)
   
7. start Big Picture Mode
   
8. find Dolphin in your games library
   
9. go to "Controller Configuration"
   
10. hit X to search templates
    
11. find the "Rex NSMB Dolphin" Template and use it
    
12. Start Dolphin from within Steams BPMode
    
13. use the right track pad as mouse to select the game and click "Start" in DE
    
14. when the game is running click "Controllers" in DE
    
15. Configure a Wiimote
    
16. click "load" in the top right corner and select the "RexSteamControler" Template you downloaded.
    
17. Hit "OK" and "OK" again.
    
18. go back to the game window and relive your childhood

concerning 10 and 11, Steam has apparently gotten rid of the "search template feature" 😑😑😑😑😑

There is an option to see friend's templates, so I added you and hopefully I can help spread it as well.
