Curiously, on my way I also encountered a lost woodsman who wanted an escort to the nearest village -- just a guy on the map the usual way. Not sure if this was related, but...
When I spoke to the lady again, she was overjoyed and told me her man had returned and even remembered being a wolf. My reward was a cloth that will apparently prevent bears from attacking me.
I already finished the quest but yeah, this is how to do it.
how do you force the wolf to eat the bread? every time I throw my bread at the wolf, they just tilt their head in confusion. After that I try to lure the wolf by placing badger bone and bread on the same tile. The wolf then vanishes and I don't know if it's working or not.
nevermind guys, after the wolf vanished, I comeback to the village quest and the woman tell me his lover is back, and I got a special item for repelling bears.
I went to the area, found the wolf by following the howls, and not nowing better, I just threw flatbread at the wolf. It "looked confused" but neverattacked me, so I keept throwing. After a while, it ran away. When I followed it, the tracks just ended.
Keept looking in the area for 2 days not finding anything, before returning to the "maiden" and she was happy that her man was back.
Sooo... Throwing bread might work.
