There is no sound
There is no sound what so ever. I've tried everything that I found suggested here:

  • Set compatibility to Vista
  • Set communications to do nothing
  • Play in windowed mode
  • Update audio drivers
  • Make sure my sound is set to stereo

Still no sound. Anyone have a fix for this?

So I'm not the only one with no sound. It seems no one gave a solution to it either. I mean I understand it's an old game but so it Skyrim and that works fine for me. It's a shame since I wanted to play it again.

It shouldn't matter how old the game is. If it can still be bough through Steam, it should be fully playable.

I would recommend that you install everything from the redist folder inside your Arkham asylum folder. As this game is well known for many different issues that usually can be solved by running the redist exe files. Windows 11 lacks some basic files that older games require without having these installed your game will be bricked or will have issues until you install them. Furthermore please note that if you connect headphones to your pc when you launch the game then audio can only be played through the headphones once you disconnect your headphones you won’t have any sound to solve this issue close out of the game make sure zero headphones are connected to pc and ensure Bluetooth isn’t connected to anything that would act as a sound device.

What worked for me was changing the sound "Default Format" to 32 bit, 48000 Hz (Studio Quality). Sound Properties -> Primary Sound Device Properties (Will differ based on your system) -> Advanced - > Default Format -> 32 bit, 48000 Hz (Studio Quality).

Hope this helps.

When I select the sound output as the speaker in the windows settings without entering the game, the sound comes out, but I could not get the sound from the headphones. Check the devices that you do not use in the device manager, it is trying to send sound to one of them. (I DIDN'T SOLVE)

I had the same issue and (on a whim lol) decided to not play it in Fullscreen Mode and that fixed everything

Yep!
That fixed everything indeed, thnx!

Although u can still press alt+enter after that, to make it playable in full screen😉

(Specification: Full screen settings are changing at the first menu screen which appears when u first start the game)
